How (un)safe are Motocross trousers if you take a spill on the road..
Pads underneath are necessary, so will they just disintegrate or are they tough as nails?

I came off on the road some years ago while riding my Kawasaki KL250 trail bike and slid along on my side for a while. I was wearing a brand new pair of motocross jeans with small hip pads inside. The road was tarmac and damp. They were quite scuffed but did not tear. I was shaken but not stirred. :white Not sure how they would hold up on dry concrete.

On dry tarmac you`d probaby suffer less if you were naked,as you won`t get any melted plastic in the gravel rash.

No guarantee

I had a spill on a strtech of sheet ice last spring, in fact three of us came off. We all had Sinisalo enduro/moto-x type clothing and integral padding.
Now probably due to the poor weather conditions and the type of small country lane, speed was low resulting in us skidding along on our cordura material.
No cuts, breaks or grazes but maybe a bruise or two, no big deal.
It could of been better or worse.
Riding trails with leather on is totally out of the question IMHO.
I have no fears of wearing this kit on my trailbike.
On the GSA I wear a HG Touareg Suit.

Because for proper trail riding you need flexability and even in cold weather you can quickly over heat in the tricky bits. :)

I had an unfortunate incident a few years back, and ended up traveling down part of the a31 on my arse, doing about 40mph, watching my pride and joy spinning around on the tarmac in front of me. :o

The result was that my Oxbow MX pants stood up to it (they were the best part of £90 though). i was also wearing MX boots, UFO hard plastic knee pads, and a fully armoured jacket.

Once you have the boots and pads in, there isn't realy much left exposed!

Don't even bother wearing leather off-road. The extra fatigue caused by quickly over heating, and lack of movement will seen see you making visits into the local scenery more often! a bit like having a weak bladder... :D
