This is my first post since joining your forum. I relocated to the UK after many years of 4x4ing in SA. I now have in my possesion a complete BMW in boxes and I am inspired to build a HPN style tourer but on a budget of sorts. I cannot afford the WP or Marzochhi forks I see on the photos of the bikes but I do see that many are fitting upside down motocrosser front ends. These are ( relatively )affordable but which one is the best considering the greater weight of the BMW engine, panniers and rider/pillion on board? Are the motocross forks/yokes/single front disc strong enough as well or do I need to go to a specialist manufacturer?
I also see that the HPN franes have been altered to give a shallower steering angle for more stability but in a lot of homebuilt specials I gather the stock angles are used.
Any help from you experts will help a wannabe like me!
