Im going to the Gp in catalunya and need some advice.Where are the good viewing spots,I was thinking of getting a general admission ticket and wander around,or would you recommend a stand?
You won't see anything without tickets for a stand.
My favourite is the stand on the inside of Carvone Renault / Curva Seat (I think stand L). Unfortunately it's not covered so take a hat / sunblock & water. You can see the bikes outbreaking each other at the end of the straight, then climb up the curves and the hill. They scrape pegs all round the back of the stand then slide out into view again around Repsol before outbreaking each other into Seat, brilliant
The huge stand around Curva Banc Sabadell and Curva Europcar is great for atmosphere. There will be cans flung at the police, fireworks and all sorts of stupidity. It's here that the Rossi fan club hang out as well. You'll see the final overtake manouver unless Rossi goes for it around the last bend again
Hi KANAZAWA,
ime also going to the Catalunya GP, ferry booked, but have not yet got a ticket, i have seen 3 day passes advertised through Pole Position ranging from £55 - £135 (for 3 days) dependant on where you want to be!
Have you got your tickets yet? if so where from, ideally ime only looking for the race day ticket,
Hi ferret
Here's the deal,I will be getting my tickets from the official Moto GP site,http://www.motogp.com/en/Race+Tickets this will give you info and prices. There is no single day passes you can only buy the three day pass.I rang the help line today and they told me some race courses do that and Catalunya is one.
Kanazawa, you are in for a real treat. I went last year as "camera mule" for my brother which meant I was trackside. But I have to say that the facilities for the spectators seemed second to none, loads of grandstands, all seeming to have brilliant views, and I`ve never seen so many big screens, so you never missed a thing, and boy what a race.
If you can take in the 3 days, do so, because the atmosphere starts right from the off on the Friday and builds over the Saturday to a crascendo on the Sunday, boy do the Spanish enjoy there motorcycle racing - brilliant.
It`s a wonderful circuit, great facilities and a great event - just make sure you`ve got plenty of water cos boy its hot.
Anyway Kanazawa, enjoy.......
I would say that one of the most popular overtaking spots is the first bend, a right hander, at the end of the start and finish straight, loads of attempted out-braking and overtaking, plus if you get into the grandstands at the end of the straight on the outside you can see them continue up-hill and sweep around the next left and if your high enough in the stand I think you can see them re-appear around a tight, tricky downhill bend + you`ll also experience the full atmosphere and noise that seems to be amplified by the main start-finish line grandstands, awesome - and as I said Donington does`nt even come remotely close.
Enjoy.........
