I am potentially looking at getting one, however i'm not 100% on them. I went to the factory to see one in action, and find out a bit more about them and figure out how they work. And see what i like/don't about them.
I had an Erde PM310 previously, so i know my likes/dislikes from that and comparing to the Motolug.
If i take price out the equation, my main bug bears are; Security - locking the Bike to the trailer/Trailer to Vehicle, and, the pin system (mainly for when the Bike may be overnight on the trailer, during a stop). My thoughts for the pin system, is to replace them with 'security' nuts & bolts on my longer trips (where i might be on the road for 2 days). Which is easy enough to do at the end of the journey with a couple of spanners. And this potentially solves my security issue, of being able to lock the Bike to the trailer, as it can no longer be taken apart as easily. And finally tie down points; there is a distinct lack of them - and with a Bike like the GS, i'd like options at the front to keep the wheel locked into the chock.
Has anyone switched from one to the other, and can give some useful input and feedback on what it is like to live with, use and travel with.
TIA

Erde Likes;
- Easy to store (not too much room taken up, when standing on end)
- Well built - nothing went wrong in my time of ownership, and many miles
- Easy to work on
- Easy to secure the Bike to the Trailer, and Trailer to the Car
- Towed well
- Just about carries the GS weight (240KG max, vs my GS of 238)
- Lots of tie down points
- Parking/storing it when at accommodation can be tricky
- Ramp needed to get Bike on/off trailer
Motolug likes (based of my brief experience);
- Packs down 'small' - easy to store when at home/away
- No ramp needed to load/unload Bike
- Higher weight carrying capacity
- Modular - can replace everything individually with ease
Motolug Dislikes;
- Very few tie down points
- No real/easy way to lock the Bike to trailer & Car (as it all comes apart)
- Pin locking system - potentially for wear over time of the holes & pins.
- Price
