Motorad concepts hugger

Dutch made me a fine cup of tea when I called by to have my fender and hugger fitted by him. There were a few minor adjustments to be made and he did an excellent job in his "warehouse cum workshop". An excellent product which does its job superbly, and as mine is in matching rocket red it makes the bike look good and go even faster!

mine's still on it's way... :(

as if all the waiting wasn't enough, at the last minute the bloody thing got delayed due to ultra tight security surrounding the G8 summit in Scotland this week... apparently the damn yank security types stopped all packages being scanned /processed/ delivered whilst they prepared for the chimp's arrival...

non the less, top service and response to e-mail queries from Dutch and his team...

:beerjug:

Rear Hugger; Extended Front Fender; Number Plate Deflector

Fitted them all today in about 40 mins - front required two people to hold the back of the bike down for approx 15 mins - not the best idea I know but it worked! Adsolutely delighted with the bits, first class workmanship and good value for money. Like most things these days you get what you pay for. A really big thank you to all at Motorrad Concepts, for their products and 'phone support. George

Just received and fitted my hugger.
The item is well made, with the alluminium part being nicely machined and finished. The matt black finish blends in nicely with the other plastics.
I'm quite dissapointed that the hugger doesn't cover the tyre symetricaly, when viewed from the rear. It looks slightly cocked to one side. This is probably me being picky, and is due to the hugger only being attached on one side and inconsistent production tolerances.
Overall, the matt black version is reasonably unobtrusive and I'm sure will do a great job of keeping off the rain and muck. However, I wouldn't buy a silver or colour coordinated version, or one for the looks.

Really couldn't agree more. Great product although mine isn't quite aligned as you describe above Dave. I anguished for a nanosecond or two about whether, in the general scheme of things, this was an issue and decided not!!

The rapidly diminishing rear view of the hugger that most people will get doesn't tend to show this up!:D

As for colour, well the colour-coded Max Power style isn't really me, you know!:barf

HAving had it fitted for a couple of weeks now I can say that I am well chuffed. It's come up nicely with some back to balck and is very subtle but still looks great and works a treat. I just wish the front of the bike stayed as clean as the back.

My OE suspension cover came of in one piece!:D

Stoney - I see you got the tank pad sorted ;)

Nice job - will you be marketing that as the next 'must have' accessory for the 1200 :D :D

It's the centre pad for the set for the GSA from NNs.

Looks preety cool especially with all the brown tape! (just while the adhesive sets).

I find that the Rallye 2 jacket rubs the tank really badly - especially if you have anything in the pockets.

It may be something to do with the size of your belly!

Is this a common problem or a one off?

Gonzo seemed to agree with me, so I guess it's quite possible. It's not the end of the world and probably my obsession for perfection.

I know there's a few international types hanging around who've had the motorrad hugger sent to them from the UK... I wonder if any of you non UK purchasers could let me know which company did the local delivery in your respective countries?...
I got an email from Dutch on 6th June to say that my hugger has been despatched. It is now 13th July and I have had no word on where it is - somewhere between Europe and Oz, stuck in Oz Customs, who knows.
I have emailed Dutch twice asking for details of how it was sent, but on neither occasion have I received a reply.
Don't know what to make of the whole business as the reports on this site are generally very favourable.
Is it because we won the cricket?

Vampire...

I'm in the exact same boat mate... in fairness to Dutch I think he's been away the last couple of days and that would probably account for your lack of email response... I've found Dutch to be extremely helpful and prompt to reply to email queries... and there've been a lot of them....

Like you it seems, I ordered a hugger based on the strength that various other non UK based folks had ordered them before and received them no problem... problem is Motorrradconcepts have changed their international carrier to Parcelforce, which is in effect a local UK courier only... and there's where the circus begins...

Dutch told me my hugger was ready to ship June 8, I paid for it the same day... Motorrad was swamped with orders and it was delayed by 22 days before shipping... Dutch then personally posted the hugger June 30... it promptly dissapears off the radar for 6 days... appears as "scanned into the system" on July 5... Parcelforce claim the the US secret service halted their operations in preparation for the G8 meeting... Parcelforce claim delivery to Taiwan will be 6 days, starting from July 5... today is July 13th, already effectively 3 days past the revised due date and 2 weeks since the parcel was sent by Dutch and there's still no word from anyone about the whereabouts of the package.

I've called Taiwan customs and excise and their policy, like most other countries, is that they will not contact the receiver directly to inform them if a parcel that needs payment of duties has been received and held at airport customs here in Taiwan. It is the duty of the shipping company to inform the receiver that the package has reached customs and requires payment of import duty before release.

So... I called Parcelforce UK who (after having me on hold for over 10mins on an international call) told me two things. Firstly that they only handle enquiries from the sender regarding international shipments and that they cannot release any information to me other than whatever their website can provide in terms of tracking info etc. Secondly they say that they *only* operate within the UK and that the package will be handled by 3rd party partner courier companies outside the UK. They cannot tell me who those 3rd party courier companies are, they cannot tell me how to find out who they are, they cannot tell me who will contact me about the parcel clearing customs, if anyone, they cannot say when the parcel is likely to arrive and they cannot track the parcel once it has left the UK.

Parcelforce may be a better alternative for shipments within the UK but given the fact that by their own admission they have "no operations at all" outside the UK and "cannot track the parcel once it leaves the UK" and cannot provide the details for who where and how it will be handled outside the UK, that they are far from ideal for international door to door service shipments.

After paying the earth for express international shipment, I feel less than impressed with the track record of taking over 2 weeks to send my hugger that I've already waited over 2 months for out into international courier oblivion with no means of finding it... If it had been sent UPS or DHL I would have had it bolted on weeks ago...

Dutch says he has contacted Parcelforce and they will follow up "manually" and let me know... I hope your situation turns out better than mine Vampire...

Mine is also slightly out of alignment with the tyre but I think I'm just being picky. I notice the hugger on my other bike (honda) is not exactly in line either and this seems to be the case with a lot of other bikes (I've become a hugger ogler).
Still Dutch's hugger is a quality bit of kit that looks really good in the mat black and stops all the crap getting over my left leg (which is what I bought it for).
Also, excellent service from Motorad Concepts with a faulty original hugger being replaced and I am now very pleased with the product & service.
Cheers JG
