I've been reading about the new kevlar inserts type jeans. There seem to be a couple of manufacturers. Has anybody bought them and what are they like?

There are no suppliers here so I'll have to buy them off the web.

Draggin jeans

Got some of these secondhand (second*rse?) off this forum.

Very comfy and cool in hot weather - only gripe is that the kevlar sweave in the seat can rub the b*m a bit if hot and sweaty - ooooooer missus!

Not hard armour but their video shows a guy being towed along a runway so they're skin savers if not broken bone savers!

Mine are the khaki cargo pants - big pockets very useful and they look just like "ordinary" trousers once off the bike.

Highly recommended. Other makes include Gialli (spelling?).

They do long fittings too.

If you can wait, Draggin Jeans usually has a stand at the bike show.

If I read this right, then you mean Draggin' or Hood? I have a pair of Hood Jeans with kevalr lining, had them for 13 months. Very stiff, sweaty bollock sin sunny weather but I tihnk safer than ordinary denim.

Mrs Invictamoto has a pair of black Draggins and likewise, quite hot in the sun but neither Hood nor Draggin as bad as leathers.

Plus when you get off the bike youonlu have bike boots and jackerts.. er and helmets to show you are on a bike.

I'd recommend either make, but Hood are cheaper to buy oy vay.

I bought two pairs from Draggin Jeans in an attempt to find something to wear in the summer down here.
Without doubt the classics are the most comfortable hot weather trousers I have ever worn, far superior to any textile stuff I have tried even ones with millions of vents. The cargo pants are a different story, they have the same kevlar linings but are of a different material and are too hot for our summer, probably cold for yours though :D
I bought some of their Knox knee armour but it is such a pain to position and uncomfortable when walking that I haven't bothered with it since. When it gets a bit cooler I may try it with the cargo pants which are baggier.
Prior to buying from Draggin I had a long chat with the nice people at Hood. At that time they only had the fully lined jeans but are working on some with lined zones like Draggin. Got 10% reduction from Draggin.
Hope this helps.

I have 2 pairs of draggin jeans, the combats and the cargo pants. I think they're superb. Draggin also supply in larger sizes up to about 48" waist if needed.

Most comfortable alternative yet in hot weather. :thumb

I’ve got a set of HG denim jeans, for about £50 a couple of years ago. They have Kevlar or something very similar stitched in the all the vital areas for abrasion protection. But the best bit is that it takes the rubber HG hiprotec armour for both knee and hip, which falls flat when not on the bike which makes them more normal looking and off bike friendly.
Due the construction they are not the lightest of jean, but that’s no bad thing. They are plenty long enough to go over boots and don’t fall short while on the bike, if your taller this would still be fine. The only down side is they only come in blue.

What size are you?

I bought a pair of Draggin Jeans Cargo pants in black last year for a trip to scotland. Great trousers but it rained most of the week , so I wore them on one day. Since then I have put on the best part of 2 stone and now they are too tight to button up comfortably.

I think the are a 34" waist.

Kevlar arse protectors

Bought a set of HARDASS jeans at Bike show last year, :D
Very comfortable and very flexible, easy clean as the knee pads and Kevlar bits are velcroed in. :thumb
a lot better than the Draggin ball roasters I had before

I'm 34" waist and would be interested in buying them if their for sale.
