motorcycle news weekly...recall on 1200 gs'

hello,

just been told this by a friend that he read in MCN that there is a recall on all 1200 gs'. true or not, i do not know?

it regards the rear wheel see through hub, because of the way it is constructed it will break or fracture under stress....

could someone maybe shed some light on this as i have not read MCN.

BMW OF ORLANDO SAID NO>

I called BMW of Orlando, Florida three days ago and asked if there were any recalls out for the R1200GS and was told no.

There was a recall of 90 some odd bikes several months ago. They were built up to the latter part march. My bike was built in late march and was not effected. I think this pertained to bikes in the US but I am not sure on that point. Most were caught prior to delivery and I have not heard or seen any post from someone who was affected by the recall.

The MCN article states that
"some 100 units are affected"
"most affected bikes have now been repaired"
"BMW say they will contact R1200GS owners if their bike is affected by this problem"
