any one ever rent a bike, particularly from Marakesh, from either the companies listed in Tim's knowledge base or any other company. looking toward a gs650, transalp or bigger gs. have flights booked for mid september. thanks in advance.

I found this: http://www.loc2roues.com/

They are located right in Marrakesh and there prices seem really decent. I've read a few post of people renting the Yamaha 660's and GS Country's from there.

Coincidently, I will be arriving there September 20th and I am debating doing some riding if I can find some moto buddies. Do you have a route and date planned? Care if I joined if it worked out?

Riding in maroc

I have reserved a transalp with one of the agencies recommended from Tim thread. Planning to ride from Monday the 20th until Friday 24th in a loop going clockwise out of Marrakech. Send me z pm if you are interested.

Yes I am interested. I can't seem to send a PM. Maybe I'm too new of a member?

Just adding info:

I contacted http://www.loc2roues.com/ and their prices do seem pretty reasonable. A 7+ day hire is 700dh a day. (53 GBP) which for 10 days is possibly cheaper than taking my own bike on the ferry from UK to Spain to Tangiers plus fuel and one/two nights accommodation.

This is for an XT660R (not Tenere - I wonder how the R does on fuel range).

Of course I have no idea how they maintain their bikes and what happens in a breakdown.

The other alternative I researched is BikersHome which is well known on this site for excellent service and facilities and knowledge but at 150 Euros a day (Yam TTR 600) .... this suddenly makes it worth taking my long range, well prepped XT600e all the way down there (again!).

I was researching costs because my time is more limited than last trip and flying will save me 4 days at least.

Another thread on this area of the site slams http://www.loc2roues.com/ so I will be scanning for a more balanced opinion on them but I've hired Enfields in India so I'm not afraid of breaking down!

I've twice been with friends who have hired bikes from Loc2roues and would say you should ignore the other thread especially as the poster isn't explicit about the problems. The bikes from Loc2roues are very old and battered with typically 60-80,000 km on the clock, but still serviceable.

I'm staying at BikersHome at the moment and having looked at the TTR600s I can confirm they are in excellent condition. Peter supplies a GPS unit preloaded with a route for you according to what sort of roads/pistes you want to do. So the additional knowledge/equipment and bike condition helps to balance the costs.

One of my trips with Loc2roue bikes was with two XT660Rs and my Tenere. I can't remember the fuel range of the XT660Rs (16-litre tank?) but we certainly had no problems. On another trip, however, my friend hired a Loc2roues 650 X-Country which only has a 9 litre tank and this was a real pain in the neck. In the end I bought a length of piping so my Tenere could act as a fuel bowser.
