Hi,
My R1200GSA warranty runs out on March 1st so I did a bit of research into what I replace it with:-

Option 1 - Renew with BuMW Motorrad Insured Warranty @ £29 per month or £310 per annum with £100 excess. Bike must be serviced at an Authorised BuMW dealer or a BuMW Service Authorised Workshop. This includes breakdown recovery.

Option 2 - Policy with Warranty Direct Linky £20 per month or £230 per annum NO EXCESS PAYABLE. Bike can be serviced at any VAT registered bike mechanic, the bike mechanic must contact them and get approval for any work done, 100% of the parts and labour are included. No breakdown cover however £150 towards any recovery is provided.

I have gone for Option 2 as I can join the RAC/AA European Cover with my tesco vouchers.:aidan

OK...........now tell me what I should have done:augie

BMW - I broke down in Zurich last year ( Fuel pump relay). BMW extended warranty sent a recoveryman to get me off the motorway, put me, my wife who was pillion and my two mates who were travelling with me up in a GOOD hotel for the night (B & B), sent a taxi to lift me in the morning to go and collect my helmet(which i had left in the back of the recovery car :blast) and paid for the FPR to be replaced( I had to pay for it and get the money refunded from BMW UK).I found all the staff really courteous and helpful and will renew the warranty this year(if I don't change the bike ). This was in addition to a new final drive being replaced about three weeks into the warranty. - I think I got good value for money :thumb2

Just an observation, you will pay £230 plus you still have to get recovery - won't really be saving much - maybe £40 :nenau

PS I didn't have any excess to pay either

Blobbs, thanks for your input.:thumb2

There is definitely £100 excess on the BMW Motorrad Insured Warranty that is underwritten by Mondial Assistance that has been offered to replace my 2 year warranty that is just about to run out.
I am taking a spare FPR with me to France as 3 of us will be on 12GSs.:augie
There is an option to have the warranty with no excess but it is of course dearer again.
It's not really the £40 saving that I am worried about. I quite like the idea of being able to get my Bike fixed and serviced by an independent mechanic as long as they are VAT registered.

Well there always is that - ye pays yer money and ye makes yer choice :thumb I was lucky it worked out well for me as I had just got a service before the original warranty ran out which meant I have had almost a year without a service :bounce1
