Motorevive Ltd . BMW Independent ARE BACK :)

Just had my R1200GSA serviced by Ted. All round nice bloke who arrived on time and did the work in good time. Even sorted out my spongy rear brake (hopefully). Highly recommended.
Kind words Chris. You're very welcome.

Thanks for the brew. And for letting me push your Goldwing around. My back will never be the same again.

Another shout out from me for Ted, arrived bang on time, service done, bike checked over and book stamped for a lot less of going to your local dealer, definitely recommended (y)

Just an update guys.

I'm now not taking anymore bookings until next year. What space I had, is now all gone.

I'm driving down to Spain with some bikes in my van and me and a couple of pals are spending the next couple of months riding the Trans Moroccan Trail and who knows what else.

The diary re-opens in January.

Thank you all so much for your support and custom. I'm looking forward to 2026 :)

Having seem the announcement from Reiten, former dealer that carried on as an approved service agent for BMW, I wondered if you were affected by the recent claim Reiten made i.e. that BMW is no longer supporting service from independent agents without a full BMW sales franchise.
My suspicion is that this is not wholly accurate and just a regional decision based on the Norwich car dealer opening a Motorrad shop, so they do not want another service agent in the catchment area.

Can you expand on that ? I'm not exactly sure what you mean ?

If it's in regard to if BMW will honour warranties if service work was carried out by dealers without a full sales franchise , then that hasn't changed.

Or do you mean that THEY can't carry out warranty work ?? Because only a main dealer can do warranty work. And I don't think Reiten are anymore !! They are an independent like me I believe.

They wholehearted honour warranties carried out by professional independents. They just can't carry them out due to the complexities of billing. A warranty is really only an insurance policy.

BMW are actually supporting and expanding their independent network support. With the usual privisos. Genuine parts needed, schedule followed, legitimate business etc

Sadly, BMW dealers are private companies. Many of them unscrupulous and deceptive. They will often lie through their teeth (fraudulently in many cases) to keep hold as much service work as they can. They make HUGE profits from their insane hourly rates and horrific mark-up on parts. So they will happily lie through their teeth to keep you away from the competition.

BMW customer services will clarify any doubts. A lot of my customers have gone on to have warranty work with my stamp in their books this year. There has never been a problem.

I am a BMW registered independent. So BMW have granted me access and use to their "AOS system"

I have the same interface as a BMW Main dealer. I can access and upload you service history. I have access to all the databases, manuals, wiring diagrams and software. It comes with a cost, but it's a fair.

BMW relies on good independents as much as the independents rely on them for the knowledge base, manuals and software.

They must know their main dealer network is often a huge disappointment to their customers. It's no good for the brand if their bikes are clogged up a dealer network waiting weeks for a service. Even if they can get anyone to reply to calls and emails in the first place.

BMW want their bikes on the road. With happy riders enjoying the experience.

in post #10 I link to Reiten's announcement in Jan 2025
"We will however, still proudly continue as an Authorised BMW Service Centre, providing all your servicing, maintenance and warranty needs with the expertise and care you’ve come to expect from Reiten"

Note the comment about warranty work

Scroll to post 13 and Reiten announce they will not be an authorised service agent. No warranty work, just a regular independent for service so no access to BMW systems.
The also state that in their view, BMW changed its policy and reneged on the earlier arrangement
"It is their belief that aftersales service should be offered only by retailers who also sell new BMW motorcycles and who adopt their full corporate identity, an approach that differs from what was originally set out to us"
Scroll down to a post on 16 Oct on their Fb page https://www.facebook.com/reitenmotorrad

ahhhh yes. Now I see what you mean. Their wording is a little confusing. The term SERVICE being used in a different context to "Servicing"

I quote their post

"
❌
The only limitations are that we can no longer perform BMW warranty repairs, service plan work, or recall work"

So that's what they're now unable to do since losing status as an Authorised Retailer. Which has always been the case for independents. I can't either.

But they WILL have access to the software and systems. IF they chose to pay for it. Like I do. But they don't need to. It's not a requirement to maintain a warranty. It's just something I chose to do so I can upload service data to BMW. And to use their diagnostics software and manuals.

Reiten can still do everything they did before. Including maintaining your warranty. But they're no different to any other independent bike shop now. If they were your local garage. And you were happy with their service and pricing, you should absolutely continue to use them.

You will still have to go to the Main agent for warranty work, recalls and to use your service plan. The service plan is an insurance product really.

I despise this new model of car dealers taking over Motorcycle franchises. They're soulless and money grabbing. And care nothing about motorcycling.

I'm glad to see you're so busy lad. You've serviced a few of our club's bikes. There has been nothing but good things said about you.

Halliwell Jones is absolutely awful. I spoke to one of the techs there a few weeks ago. I wouldn't have been surprised if he came to work on a big yellow bus. Absolutely clueless about anything. I've heard they can't retain staff there due to awful wages and long hours. They can certainly afford to pay for some talent to work there with the prices they charge but they just employ morons.

News flash...

I have just opened my calendar for 2026 bookings. Starting in March.

For the best BMW mobile servicing IN THE WHOLE WORLD 😅

My prices haven't changed. And the service is just as top notch.

Still BMW registered and accredited
Still offering warranty approved services
Still connected to BMW for service data uploads
Still more experienced, professional and offering better value than the alternative.

Get in touch 🙂

Cheers, Ted
