Motorhome Bike Carrier?

Hi all,

I'm on the cusp of buying a motorhome but want to be able to put my bike (11' plate GSA) on the back of it sideways like a pushbike. Does anyone here have any experience with this, or know where I could purchase a suitable carrier. I do not want to tow a conventional trailer as the motorhome is long enough already and reversing is a pain in a long vehicle with a short trailer.
Any advice much appreciated.

Would be useful if you could. Think the thing that stops this mainly is the nose weight of a tow bar for example,it's usually around 100kg so anything heavier on it could snap/bend. Also there is a requirement for loads to be spread evenly across all the wheels with a percentage difference so 250kg on the back end plus the carrier could give toy super power steering as your front wheels waggle in the air!

A tail lift can take up to 500kg so if you have space/weight available on the back that might be an option if it can be locked in place with a shorter platform.

My "campervan"is just a transit so I can get it in through the back doors but it's a struggle as it's quite high at the back. Bought a klx650 to make it easier!

That would have to be some motorhome and an even more epic platform to hang a GS off the back.
As far as I know, for a conventional type motorhome the only option is to trailer it.
Those sawiko jobies look like a good option to me.
I'm sure there must be a dealer in the uk who could get one for you.

Unfortunately the Wheely trailer does not shw on the webpage. I have asked them ifthey can supply them in the UK

Having looked at this the real limiting factor is the rear axle load. I wou,d be amazed if you can find a motor home that will allow quarter of a tonne to be hung off the back....trailer only I am afraid unless you some kind of monster motor home.

Agree with above, I have a Citroen Relay and it already struggles with the weight of gear I carry for work, I'm waiting for delivery of a new one at the end of the month in which I'm having air suspension fitted to assist the rear springs, that might work for you too.

This is very similar to the one I'm hoping to buy (Kon-tiki 669). As you can see it has a tag axle which might mean its able to carry the weight of the GSA.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and it says 230 kg, so not quite up to the weight of an Adventure.

Food for thought there. I don,t know much about motor homes , but I know that in Spain, on a twin back axel you pay more on the toll roads than a single axel. Also bikes pay the same as cars.. Just saying like.

Have a search for hydralift and easyliftuk. I am going through the same process and my truck is a 10m converted euro cargo. Seems that only way is a sideways trailer on castor wheels

Google easylifter hydratrail bike is carried sideways and most of the weight is carried by jockey wheels not the axle cheers
