I'd just like to pass on a bit of praise for a generally fine experience I had when at Motorrad Central last week. A couple of (unnamed) dealers had quoted 6-7 weeks for a service but Motorrad Central fitted me in within a couple of weeks. Friendly, knowledgeable staff all round and a nice smile from the lovely Jenny.
Thanks to all.

Nothing but praise for Motorrad Central, bought a GS12 in April witha good part ex for my ST1300,as the GS was delayed they lent me a K1200 gt ( good heated seat ! ) for a weeks holiday around the Highlands.New bike was prepared well and a few extra`s thrown in with the deal.First service was dealt with ( only two week wait ) fine and they let me use there K1200r for a couple of days( my convenience ).
Overall the staff are friendly and helpful and most importantly when you come out you don`t feel as if you`ve had your wallet nicked !
Can only compare Central to Southport Superbikes......what a difference !

My experience of Motorrad Central is somewhat different.

The side panel blew off on the ride home almost pulling us under a lorry, they used wrong spec oil and they chewed or cross threaded most of the bolts holding the sump and cylinder head guards on.

At least they paid my local dealer to replace the damaged panels and incorrect oil and refunded me the cost of the service. Still trying to find replacement bolts for the TT sumpguard though....

Never again.

P.S. The bikes just been serviced by SM Motorcyles in Victoria BC and feels like a different bike.

System Addict: I must admit I'm surprised to learn of your experiences with MC...

Given that they have only been BMW Motorrad dealers for a little over two years, they are developing into a thoroughly professional, competent & biker friendly dealership.

Having owned BMW bikes for about 22 years now, and sampled a good number of UK & European BMW bike dealers over that time, I have to say that, in my opinion, MC is right up there with the best of them......

Clearly the service you received from them was below your expectations and indeed way below standard.....but they have obviously acknowleged their shortcomings on this occasion, as evidenced by their refund of your servicing costs etc......

Instead of saying 'never again' I would always be looking to turn the negative into a positive.....by giving them a chance to demonstrate what they are actually capable of.........but I guess it's a long way to come for a new widget.......

Cheers

Hmmm, I may have been more understanding had they not put both our lives in danger.

I promised myself I wouldn't go into the whole sorry tale online but one of the reasons we went there was the number of glowing recommendations on this forum, plus as I told them, I wanted to be doubly sure the bike was thoroughly prepared for our trip around the world on it where we would be depending on it being safe and reliable. They let us down badly.

If I was considering using them now for the first time I would want to know that they can also be dangerously incompetent as well as "professional, competent & biker friendly". That might be true of a lot of dealers but I've had a few 'iffy' bike services in my time and that was by far the worst of any make of bike I've had. I can't complain about their attitude but that quality of service from a BMW agent is in my opinion unforgivable.

Anyway - like I said the last thing I wanted to do is start a vendetta especially since they 'did the right thing' in the end but my resolve weakens when I keep seeing 'glowing' reports of their service.

I CAN however recommend SM Motorcycles Victoria - if anyone brings their bike to Vancouver area, go there. Best service I've had from any main dealer Jap or German.

In 22 years of biking Motorrad Centrals by far the best dealer ive used. Bought a bevel box oil seal took in the bevel box and they fitted the seal for free. :thumb
