Motorway ‘blipper’ / smart tags - For ALL news, advice, how to get one and what’s best, irrespective of the country

My Emovis tag arrived on Friday i paid extra for next day delivery, so lets see how it goes. Going away tomorrow and will be on the peage up untill Troyes so i will get to try it out, hope it all goes well. Oh it was not the cheapest but the only supplier that could get it to me in time.

Just a heads up

Fulli have an offer on, at least for the Nomad + which does 4 countries, no 15 euro activation fee, 10 euros postage outside France

other suppliers probably have offers on too, good time to buy for those interested (y)

OK then.
2 questions spring to mind. Is there a tag that works all over Europe, if so how much does it cost. When using these tags is there a particular lane for motorcycles.

As above, loads of info in the thread,

tags available for France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, such as the one I mentioned

different suppliers all work with the same networks so just choose the best deal

avoid the lanes with the no motorcycles sign, they’ll charge you for a car

Example’s in French but this is what I use, you only get charged when you use it (or 10 euros after 2 years of non use)

No & No

There are lanes that are car only. If you use them on a bike, you are charged as a car. Use the other lanes and you will see Class 5 for bikes on the display/bill.

The best you can get, is the 4 country pass - Italy, France, Spain & Portugal. They use different systems elsewhere with stickers/vignettes.

Ive got to get a new sticker :blast and swap the tag, arrange breakdown & recovery cover ... and on and on and on lol

Thank you.

Ah yes, didn’t think of that, they don’t replace vignettes for Switzerland or Austria which are annual

Swiss is annual only, in Austria you can buy a 7 day pass for about 5 euros. Both from most fuel stations.

I generally avoid Switzerland if I can

Only been to Austria once on the bike and didn’t realize I needed a vignette until I’d left :blast

There are digital vignettes available but I’ve not tried myself

The route-bound toll

Eight countries of the European Union have costs associated with the use of certain routes. These include tolls in France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Poland, Portugal and Spain. Tolls are calculated on the basis of the travelled distance. The distance is also decisive for tolls in Great Britain, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Norway, Serbia, Turkey and Belarus.

The vignette

The time-bound vignette is used for tolls in Bulgaria, Austria, Romania, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. The validity depends on the respective country.

Special toll

In addition to conventional tolls, special tolls may also be charged in certain countries. In Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Denmark and Sweden, special toll charges become due at the use of certain bridges, tunnels and passes.

Been trying to subscribe via Emovis for a Liber-t tag but it just grinds to a halt after submission. Maybe give them a ring tomorrow.

Thanks for all this chaps!
I've just signed up for the:

FULLI NOMADE +

electronic-toll-subscription-offers

It seems the cheapest at the moment and it gives me the option for potential trips to Spain, Portugal or Italy.
It was all very easy and straightforward to sign up, once I'd worked out which country I live in! ( Royaume - Uni ) in case you're interested!
They've quoted a delivery time of two weeks and the bank thing was straight forward just have your IBAN code to hand!

I just need to wade through all the routes I've downloaded from Wapping's posts and work out where to go!!

Question for the other telepage holders... what colour is your receiver? Black or white?

Reason is: I have 2 badges. one for the GS, one for the car.
While traveling to Italy this month it came out that the car one stopped working. Initially I thought the new car had a shielded screen, but it is installed behind the black dots and didn't work even keeping it outside the window, on the roof.

Ulys hasn't been very helpful... so I ordered a third badge, to have it delivered here in Italy. I'm not traveling all the way back to London getting out of the car at every barrier... The badge I received is white instead of black and has a slightly different mounting bracket (and doesn't seem to have the Italy option on).

I'm trying to understand if there are two type of badges out there... or maybe these are just new models.

I use a bip and go primarily for France and it’s black and green. But it also works in Spain , Portugal and Italy but to do so you have to enable it on the website and it pushes up my annual fee to €30.

mine is white from APRR (now Fulli) bought in 2018
just like the one in this video at 15 secs

I sent them an email. If I go and try to activate options for this 3rd badge it only allows me to activate Spain/Portugal. I wonder if the hardware is different for Italy.

I also marked the first receiver as defective and asked to send the replacement here in Rome... should be at my parent's before I embark for the return trip in September. I might have a passenger for the next few trips in the next couple of weeks.

Oh, mystery solved:
Your badge number 2 is being delivered, it contains the Italy option because it replaces the number 1 which contained it.

However, due to a temporary supply problem, we are no longer able to offer you the Italy option for a new badge.

Ulys have been consistently shit in support and delivery. Might try to switch to Bip&Go that seems to have a larger support network (shops around the motorways).
They won't ship to Italy so I'll wait to be back home.
