Motorway ‘blipper’ / smart tags - For ALL news, advice, how to get one and what’s best, irrespective of the country

No, HSBC same issue. It's the French blipper people not being able to process SEPA requests to be fair. And blaming it on the user.

I don't think so. All my direct debits are SEPA. Its the way.
Are you sure its not the UK(?) bank being unable to cope with SEPA as their norm is SWIFT?

Not 100% sure.
I've had other SEPA operations work fine on my HSBC account.

For the Blipper I'm with Ulys (with three separate blippers at the moment :alien:) and tried Mango, that I think is Fulli today, before that.
Both brands failed to take money from my HSBC account at first.
The Mango customer support became kinda condescending at first and oddly aggressive (in legal terms) when they weren't able to collect money despite me talking with HSBC and relying them all the provided information. I sent them their way.

With Ulys, after the first test payment failed, I switched to my Wise balance (I have an euro account) and it worked straight away, problem solved.

I really didn't like the way the Mango tech support managed the entire thing (I've always been more than polite and open to do all sort of tests and provide alternative means of payment) but... having worked with French digital services before myself, I'm not surprised :D :D :D

Just a heads up as the season is upon us

Special offers on Fulli tags, no start up fee and 8 months French usage charge free

Example for the 4 country tag…..

Used mine last month for the first time. Absolutely wonderful, especially the 30kph lanes. It’ll be a godsend when I’m away on the bike in Aug & Sept.
Thoroughly recommend it.

There is a recall of a specific SANEF tag, due to a less than reliable internal battery.

It is the solid grey (NOT the black and white) tag, that looks like the one above.

A replacement tag should be ordered in your online account.
The address to post your tag back to is:

Emovis Tag
Unit 10, Hornbeam House
Hornbeam Park
Hookstone Road
Harrogate
HG2 8QT

Your tag should be returned in a padded envelope using a large letter stamp with your name and address enclosed. We recommend obtaining proof of postage and retaining these until you receive our email, acknowledging receipt of your returned tag.

Currently using mine here in Biarritz, that I got last time they had this offer… It’s been a game changer for us and I ordered 2, so I have another one registered for the GS and will have it in my pocket when I go to Sid’s in August.

You know you can change the reg linked to it on the web site for Italy, Spain and Portugal ? No need for France

I use the same tag for two cars and the bike

Had to replace my Fulli / Mango tag as the last one failed on me.
Been trying the replacement in my Tesla flying down through and around France the last few days and it’s been faultless. Great system if you need to use those roads.

What indicated that your old one had failed? Mine are approaching 2yrs old so it would be helpful to know what to look out for…😊

the entry gate to a toll section spews out a paper ticket rather than opening the barrier

either the tag is badly positioned or the battery is low - typically they last 5 years but there has been a bad batch from I think Emovis which they recently issued a recall notice.

Just only worked 25% of the time……right PITA on a bike. Changed it when I got back last trip.

One point I have noticed is that people seem to think that they need to register their vehicle registration number for all countries. But afaik the registration number is only required for Italy, and can be changed online & take 24hrs to become effective

Portugal uses ANPR on most toll roads. No barriers.

I believe France will be going down the same route and there is already one section of new motorway with ANPR

"The change covers 88km of the A79 from Sazeret (Allier) to Digoin (Saône-et-Loire) in central France, a busy east-west route linking the German, Swiss and Italian borders to the Atlantic coast."

To confirm, yes, only Italy does the plate check at the gates.
You can change the plate in the app in advance. The barrier will still open if you have a blipper and wrong plate (they will take a picture as you exit).
