Motorway ‘blipper’ / smart tags - For ALL news, advice, how to get one and what’s best, irrespective of the country

I suspect they weren’t able to set up the SEPA, you didn’t get their emails complaining about it, and they proceeded to cancel the contracts (this is their procedure).

The first payment for the blippers is (in my experience) managed differently than the SEPA.

What the hell is SEPA?

Fulli charged €10 for shipping the badge, and then did a €1 debit to check my debit instruction worked.

The email from them states this.

You have chosen a pre-authorized payment for the payment of the amount of the activation fee, toll charges. If you have opted for a direct debit by RIB/IBAN, the sum of €1 will be debited from your bank account. This is a deposit, which will be deducted from the total amount of your first invoice.

I should add - my debit instruction failed, but if you update your payment details in their portal it will try again automagically. You don’t need to contact them (despite what their website says). It worked second time fine.

I am certain that I did not opt in for the DD setup. But yes they have charged my credit card for delivering the two tags. One for wife’s car one for my bike.

I cannot say 100% for Fulli as I use Ulys, but it seems they all work in a similar fashion.
Payment of the badges (shipping) is always on card/whatever.

The actual billing is always on DD (SEPA). I think only one of the companies allowed toll payments by card.

APRR before they were Mango & Fulli

I recently update my payment credit card as the old one had expired. They tried to get me to use direct debit but I clicked the grey box below for Boxpay (I think it was called), updated my new card details. They did a pre-authorisation via Boxpay for a euro. This pre-authorisation disappeared from my account after a couple of days.

I am wondering if this Boxpay thing is always there but people are missing it due to uncertainty about what it is?

Yes, write in French.

BTW, before getting my contract with Ulys, I did try Mango.
At the time I had the DD/Sepa issue (this is before I started using Wise as the payment account) and Mango wasn't able to set up the DD on their side after I paid for the blipper to be shipped (by card).

They got kinda aggressive because they couldn't set up the payment (their fucking problem because they didn't test their service, clearly) while I spent quite a lot of time to try and sort it out with HSBC my side.
After a couple of weeks they sent a message announcing that the were closing my account (which they did) and ordered me to return the blipper or legal action blah blah.
I binned the blipper and nothing ever happened.

I then tried with Ulys and, after a few weeks and some arguing I managed to make it work with Wise (and leaving a 40 quid deposit for my first blipper).
It works now, I'm happy, but it was a faff.
Most of it is, and I repeat, because they didn't test their service. Surely they would have noticed that they are not able to set up SEPA payments for 90% of their users.
Also, having English speaking personnel for a service aimed at British users could help sometimes. But I guess it is difficult to predict that people in the UK do speak English mostly and not French. :D

I'm kinda used to poorly designed digital (and not) services in Italy, but the French do take the cake most times in my experience :D
Or maybe they are using the same people who build Garmin apps and software.

I wonder how much their conversion rates would improve if they even just explained or suggested to UK users what we discussed at length on these threads here.

Long story short: use google translate (both ways) for any support communication.

I’m with Biggles, as regards the simplicity of the Emovis (ex Sanef) tag, particularly if you (like Jessie of the Fast Show) “Today, I have mostly been going to France”.

Works perfectly . Comes as a pair so stick one on each jacket sleeve but don’t forget to swap sides when you head back home as the sensors are on the other side

Has nobody got those transparent pockets on the end of their jacket sleeve anymore?

I’ll be carrying my fob and a card in mine and, if the fob fails, wave the sleeve at the card reader instead
