Motorworks cheap Y peice pipe

Anyone had any experience of these?

NOT a Remus but a high quality British made item. This stainless steel header set replaces the downpipes and collector box thereby dispensing with the catalytic converter and releasing more power. No further tuning is necessary.

£200 quid from motorworks (See here) I'm really tempted as it'd save a fair few pennies compared to the remus jobby. Are they £200 coz they're crap/require rejetting/bad fitting etc.? Or just coz they haven't got remus stamped on them somewhere.

Have just fitted new 'Y' piece from Keihan systems which also has a balance pipe (some folks think these give slightly better torque). Unit is very nicely made, seems to fatten out the flat spot and generally makes the bike crisper, more responsive, smoother etc.
I forget the price but it was cheaper than Remus. Happy to recommend.

I`ve got the prototype headers fro Keihan and can totally recommend them. Well made and definately give better performance!!

Thanks guys, I'll get on the phone to keihan at some point then. Nobody tried the motorworks jobby then? Maybe I should try it for the sake of some tosser R&D then otherwise

Mech, that guy does does do a 1200 one, I've seen it on ebay in the past. Probably a great bit of kit, but I asked him before and it turns out I'd need to cut my original headers to fit it, I'd rather leave them as is in case I want it to sell the bike on.

I decided against as they notion of me with a hacksaw was too much to bear!

I have been thinking about the headers from ebay but did not realise that anything needed to be modified. What needs to be cut to fit these headers?

Originally they were made so you'd have to cut both the downpipes, effectively cutting out and replacing the cat. The guy's now doing sets including downpipes, though he said his pipe bender struggles a bit, and they aren't 100% perfect on the sharp bends. He did tell me that they are ever so slightly creased, but not enough to be restrictive.

They look good though, I think I'll probably get a set at some point now I don't need to cut them.

I`m staggered to think that anyone thinking about buying some headers which by the manufacturers own admission aren`t right

Comments like "ever so slightly creased", "the pipe bender struggles a bit" and "adapted with a hacksaw" would make me run a mile and I can only imagine what his workshop is like!! And, on a 10k bike as well!!

The Kiehan`s are well made and designed specifically as are other "proper" manufacturers like Remus and probably not much more expensive but each to their own I guess!!

+1 only another £100 approx for the Remus ones.

The ones on Ebay go for between 50-100, so quite a saving in my opinion

treat yourself.....

....and go for the Remus ones. Spoke to the guys that know about such things at Motorworks and whilst acknowledging that the £200 one does a job, the Remus ones are worthe the extra, have nice gas flowed corners etc and are you really going to quible over £100 on your £10,000 bike?? Stop being so tight, you cant take it with you!

Ok ok, I'll get some remus ones... one day Can't really be bothered to spend the money on them at the moment, that's why I was looking at cheap alternatives. The remus's may only be £100 more, but then these cheapo ones are £100 less , so if they don't make a difference it's quite good really

Sounds like bmconvert has had the word from the motorworks guys though, remus it will be.
