if left to the local BMW dealer in Thun my bike would have cost North of CH800 and 2-3 weeks to repair the FD bearing, Motorworks got the bearing and seal out to me in 2 days for <£100 (the 2 days was apparently how long nextday delivery takes if you are in rural Switzerland!) THAT is the service level main dealers need to aspire to ibefore they start bitching about the competition!
Then again, I phoned Motorworks twice last week asking about a fuel sender - promised to phone back each time, never did (Sherlocks did but wanted far more for the part). Went into BMW dealers desperate for some o rings for the QR fuel connectors, they spent ages looking for some and gave me them for free
I think it is difficult to make generalisations about small companies - everyone has their off days I guess.
