Don't do it without aerial

Fitted my Kenwood in the top box a few weeks ago. Cut the radio extension lead, got a waterproof grommet from Maplins, rejoined all the tiny wires, secured the radio in the box and ..............yes it doesn't work very well. It works when you test it on the drive from a few feet but the range is so short it makes it unuseable. As I'm unable to fit a remote aerial on a Kenwood I'm about to undo it all and find somewhere else. Maybe in the gap under the topbox rack in a waterproof zip bag. It must be the metal in the box or just the thickness of the plastic but either way it doesn't work.

cheers ratboy. hopefully, i'll have a mount in the box which charges the radio, but the main difference is that i'll have an external aerial...... hopefully!
