Mounting external bottles to vario panniers...

Hi has anyone managed to fit Bottle holders to the back of the standard vario panniers and if so how did you do it so that it doesn't interfere with the expanding mechanisms?
Need to mount 2 ally bottles for fuel and oil or risk them in the boxes?

Why mount them on the boxes ?
I'm sure I've seen canisters that can fit in the GS frame try E Bay

You don't need to carry oil unless crossing the Gobi desert and fuel small cans will only give a (small) reserve capacity. If you want a useful additional fuel capacity get some one or two gallon RotoPax or a fuel bladder.

Givi offer a 2.5 litre fuel can (code TAN01). I have one on order from Adventurebike Warehouse. None in the country at present. It's the right size to fit between wheel and side case frame on an Adventure. Why does a bike with 34 litre tank need even more fuel? It doesn't, but the fuel strip failed and its all too easy to run out when you fill infrequently.

I used a touratech mount and used 2 touratech straps which go right around the case, works perfectly. I'll see if I have a photo. No holes drilled and the case can still be used expanded or not.
