Has anyone ever fitted a luggage rack on the top of a Vario Topbox? The plastic mouldings look as if they were made with this in mind. I've seen the thread where someone fitted some eyes for bungee hooks, and if all else fails, I'll go down that route.

Givi make racks for their top boxes but you will need to drill - also weight that high up may need caution.
I bought one but never fitted it.

Also consider the mountings for the box to the underplate. It is not unknown for these fixings to break, so adding more weight higher up and you must heighten the chance of a problem.:rob

I fitted some luggage eyes to mine. If you strip the lid down you can fix them on the raised portion without having to drill right through the box. Plenty of silicone and I've had no problems with water leaking.

I only use it to strap my waterproofs to, wouldn't want anything heavy there. If you're worried about scuffing the lid I use a piece of that rubberised sheet, again with no problems

No none at all been loaded up with tent etc travelling over europe, have pictures , not sure how to upload?
Would defiantly reccomend, I ues buckle type straps a lot better than bungees
