Well time has come for the GS to go, best bike, as an alrounder I think I've ever had. However as my useage has changed I've found myself doing more longer trips and less and less "out for the day" rides. So today the deed was done, pick up an RT, and become officially middle aged, at the end of the month.

I'll renew my site sponsorship and stick my Sargent seats and MRA vario screen in the "for sale" section. May even have the Vario panniers for sale, but I'll let folks know after the deal has been done.

Now all I have to do is find an equivalent source of information in the UK for RT owners!

u"ll be back,:D

I'll be still visiting the site for sure, it's a great mine of information on other biking issues not just the GS.

I was actually amazed at how "little" the RT felt after testing it. Certainly a completely different riding experience to the GS. It was nice to have my feet on the floor at standstill though!

Coincidentally I went for a test ride on a RT on Monday. I too felt the pipe and slipper appeal of all day comfort drawing me toward the RT.

However being 6' 5" I found the riding position too cramped for me and after a GSA test ride I found the bike that best suits me.

I really wanted to like the RT too but the GSA gives me much more comfort and seems so much better than my humble GS.

Luckily my legs have no issue with the even higher seating position and the winglets everyone crows about do seem to do the business.

However still got more buffeting than the RT but a lot less than the GS.

I guess until you ride these bikes you never know what suits.

Hey! I'm an RT rider, been here years....

The only really active site I know of that caters to the RT is the American based ‘BMW Sport Touring’ site, but I’d stick on here if I were you, loads of fun here :P

Having your feet on the ground is over-rated. :D

I'd found that Ebbo, and it's very USA biased, but I guess it will do for if I need to ask any questions.

I'll be staying here and other bike sites I attend for the craic and everyday riding info.

I have ridden the RT and indeed for touring etc it is a mile cruncher, but I prefer the GS as I commute every day. I guess if your touring alot the RT would be preferable, the GS does everything for what I require. Personal preference I think.

......I've been for a test ride on an RT as well. Concluded I wasn't old enough yet!!!! (cracking bike though, especially in the rain)

Is the GS possibly the worst bike ever to ride in the rain? I don't mean handling, but the amount of crap it throws up everywhere!

I'm comfortable now to be considered middle aged as I've moved over to a "Gentleman's Tourer"!! Come a lotto win though, and I'll have both!

I am on my 3rd RT and unless BM will come out with something mind blowing ,this one is for keepers. I had a momentary lapse of judgement after I sold my second one , that I can emulate the LWA ( in Reading:rolleyes:) and I bought a 1200GSA . Love affair lasted 2 months . I went back to the RT...again.
