The Hitch-hiker was erected in 2005 and was meant to represent the rafts and rollers used for travel before the wheel was introduced. Doesn't clarify it sufficiently for me.......I know that rafts and rollers were used to transport large stones ie Stonehenge. Maybe it's not stolen but merely being modified to give a better representation of a Hitchhiker
