Moving to Devon

Welcome to the South West. Living in Devon you need to understand the Cream Tea protocol!!

There’s a very good independent BMW mechanic in Dorchester (https://www.studleysmotorcycles.co.uk/) - he’s ex CW Motorcycles, and his work is far better than his website!
Except, don't go there in a hurry, Darren is booked 2 moths ahed at the moment

Well done you ! That IS a lovely neck of the woods. My daughter was at Exeter Uni and I used to love going down to see her and then stay an extra day having a mooch about. Hope that all goes well for you old fruit. :bounce1

Go to nhca.co.uk and get your entry in for the "Allbike" event on the 15th September. Taking part is much more fun than just watching. We visit Wiscombe several times a year.
Thanks for that tip. The West Country version of Goodwood and a fraction of the price .

No, not Invermay. I went to see that house but it was too far out of Budleigh. We found an 18th century house in the town and went for that. Three mins to coffee shop, four minutes to the Feathers pub, 5mins to the beach. It’s happened out of the blue and I’ll be commuting weekly to Ldn until i can transfer.

Not sure the nudist beach is ready for a hairy Irish man. Whenever we arrange the local get together on the beach perhaps we can call it Old Buffers In The Buff In The West.

It's day five of Devon life, and London already feels like a different planet. It still feels like a holiday and not quite real. The locals have been very welcoming, and there's a real sense of community. It makes me laugh to walk into the butchers and hear them say, "You've bought Pat's old house".

I've managed to swim every day with the Budleigh Swim Bods and the paddle board is going in this morning. Wondering why we didn't move sooner.

Welcome to Devon, get yourself over to Jollys Bike Shop/Cafe in Bovey Tracey as there is a real mix of bikes and great coffee there. Also a free to entry lifesize models and customer bikes area

I was in the Budleigh area last weekend at a Bicton College 40 year reunion
May me realise how much I missed it and managed a swim at Budleigh beach
Stayed with college friends at Woodbury and went to a free film festival there in the VH and everyone so friendly
Went up in the bell tower on Sunday morning to watch the ringing (friend is a ringer) and even had a go at it
East Devon is great area and I have had 35 years in Yorkshire - but would love a house in east Devon

If you are into green laning then there are masses of green lanes around here and a lot of people go out but mainly on smaller bikes

You're welcome to drop by for a coffee when you're next down.

A part of the world that I love having been to agricultural college at Bicton

You’ve some wild Beavers up the river from you - I can send you the what3words however I understand it’s now a bit late in the session to see them.

Welcome to the SW

If ever the well used expression “living the dream” could apply, this is probably it.

The whole Dorset / Devon coast is utterly beautiful with a gem around every corner.
I live in Dorset, and have spent 2x2 weeks on holiday in the camper van …… in Dorset on the Jurassic coast this year.
Best of luck.
