Hi guys long time lurker on here....looking for your thought and to see if anyone else has done the same swap and their thoughts and also thoughts on PCP in general.

Always like the GS....but the new LC has brought the performance up to make me genuinely interested. I initially just couldn't stomach the initial purchase cost (£15k) but had a test ride and was really surprised-enjoyed it!!

I have a 15 plate S1000R which I struggle to ride sensibly with 160bhp on tap I fear for my licence.

Then I got an email from Park BMW Motorrad in Glasgow who are offering a killer deal on the TB- complimentary side panniers and Akro pipe AND reduced the APR to 3.9%!!

I have always purchase my bikes outright and the PCP is what's worrying me-being tied to the bike for 3/4 years.....

So thoughts or advice??

Although you have to set a term I didn't think you were tied to the bike for that period of time, you can swap early , I also read somewhere that is possible to move brands and PCP from one to another which I didn't realise ? However, reading up on PCP it really only makes sense if you are want to have a new bike every 2-3 hrs which you seem to be happy to do.

As £15k in the bank gets you no interest whatsoever nowadays though I don't understand why even a 3.9% deal is favourable to spending the cash IMHO?

Hi street flat twin, is the complimentary panniers on the GSA as well do you know or is the deal Park BMW just put together for you as a one off deal.

Does anyone else on here with the TB GSA LC get a deal to include panniers and Akro?

Thanks mark

Because in a lot of people's minds,if they have £15k in the bank and buy something for £15k they then have nothing in the bank.

They'd rather keep the big lump sum and spend a regular small amount of disposable income buying something on terms.

They are offering 3 box luggage (panniers and top box) free with the GSA and the panniers and Akro (or swap the Akro for a vario top box) on the Triple Black.

The 3.9% APR is favourable as it usually 5.9% or higher!! I have never bought on PCP and just worried of the unknown. I usually swap bike every year or so and being "forced-as part of a deal" to keep it (or suffer financial penalties) is what bothers me.

They also give me a cheque back for the collateral in my S1000R....w

Remember last time when deals like this were offered the next year the new model came out are we due a replacement or major update variable valve timing for instance

Here is the deal

with pcp deals is there a 30 day cool off period ! where i can end the contract and pay the OTR price, I've never done pcp but id like to take advantage of foc panniers and akro.

I payed of a PCP in 2012 on a GS to take advantage of a deposit contribution saved nearly £1800 on the deal but waited 6 months to pay it off I was looking for used and was a couple of grand shot of new

The replacement GS won't be out for at least a year, then the GSA will follow a year later.

The next change will be an update not a full new bike going by the previous GS models there was talk of VVT and a new engine on the next version and maybe some better engine paint but that might be too much to ask :D

I believe you only get the 3.9% with a 20% deposit.

Tarka is spot on. Some have money tied to investments that may be illiquid and/or for a longer term goal therefore 3.9% is a good rate and far lower than the 9.90% they were 'offering' only a couple of months ago.

You can pay off whenever you like, I did this last year 8 months in as had cash tied into a project at the time of purchase and couldn't wait for new bike. Phoned BMW finance, got exact figure outstanding, sent them the money simple. What you can also do is whack a large deposit down so you pay less interest on the outstanding balance, as you borrowed less. My bike was £9,000 and I could pay a couple of hundred quid upfront, if I chose, but paid £5,000 meaning I was financing £4,000. I knew I would pay off in X months and could have put balance on credit card but finance with BMW was the far cheaper alternative. If you want cheaper have a look to see if a 0% credit card available, I couldn't be arsed though

You need to "factor in"; a Nav 5 GPS, quick shifter and some engine protection ( bars/rocker cover protectors ?) into your deliberations.

Either ask them what the deal is for cash or just settle the PCP. I settled mine 6 months into the 36 month term when I came into some dosh. Saved a big chunk of interest; a lot more than the money would have earned anywhere else.

The best deals are usually to take the PCP and settle later the dealer has more profit to discount to get a deal closed the more addons they can sell to you if your taking the finance dont tell them you intend to settle after the deal is done :thumb

If I take a PCP deal my plan is to run with it.....as long as I resist the urge to swap bikes.

When asking about putting larger deposit down I was dissuaded by the dealer saying it is of no benefit to me. I can see his point if I plan on swapping bikes and continuing with a new PCP deal for a new bike in 3 years or so.....

But if I planned on keeping the bike I guess larger deposit would be a good think for me (and a bad thing for the dealer!

Going to organise another demo ride and see how I feel.....

The S1000R is a great bike-just returned from completing the Scottish NC500.....but it's ballistic and I enjoy ringing a bikes neck and when I do that I'm at silly speed....get the same feeling at lower speed on the GS!!

My thought is.... That the colour of the GS will not make any significant difference.
