I used Thunderbird v0.8 when it came out ans found it OK, but then I had issues with Firefox and abandoned Thunderbird in case that went the same way.
I have been back using Firefox for a while now and it seems good, so, today, I thought I would try Thunderbird again. I loads perfectly, imports my mail, settings, etc. but everytime I try to use it, it asks for my password. I enter my password and it doesn't accept it, just keeps asking me to re-enter it
I have checked on the Thunderbird support forum and it appears that I am not the only one having this problem. Unfortunately, no one has posted any answer(s) to the question!
I have tried the Thunderbird FAQs and there is mention of Thunderbird "forgetting" that a password and/or "forgetting" has been entered. The solution mentioned involves changing the command line in Windows, which I have done and it still asks me the same question.
If no one here can help, I think I will bin it and go back to OE !!!!!!!
Hmmmm.... just wondering why I am persisting with a flakey, buggy program in the first place!!!!

Any suggestions?

I had the same trouble with some, not all, of my mail accounts under Thunderbird.

Under server settings, check what you've put for user name. Some mail servers just require the name, e.g. joe.bloggs, whereas others require the full email address i.e. [email protected]

I'm a FF user, so I thought I'd try Thunderbird too. I didn't like it either. Can't use it effectively with Hotmail, and doesn't seem to offer anything over Outlook Express which, despite being a Microsoft product, isn't overbloated, and works.

Me too - absolute FF convert - couldn't do without tabbed browsing, mouse gestures and all the other extensions (sounds like a good new thread - FF extensions?).

But Thunderbird I just couldn't get on with. I tried really hard to like it but am eventually back with Outlook - which seeing as I've got a windows enabled phone, syncs perfectly.

Can't understand why you all have problems with Thunderbird. I've got it set up to access my email from 5 or 6 different mail servers, and it's never caused any problem at all.

And it's a hell of a lot less of a security hole than OE.
