Looking for a way out
I've got an audio book in mp3 @ 256 kbps. Alas that means the whole thing is nearly 4 Gb, which is more than my player can cope with. without re-ripping every CD, is there a way to downgrade the quality to 128 or 192?

Thanks
Jim

PS Am I alone in being a fan of audio books. Can beat it for long M way miles... :thumb

you could use dbPowerAMP music converter. It allows bitrate re-encoding between 32 - 320K.

Hi All,

Not meaning to hi-jack the thread but whilst we are on the topic of MP3's etc can this program convert MPEG 4 to MPEG 3 (so I can play music on my PDA?)

If not can anyone reccommend anything?

Thanks

not sure. I think you can down load a free demo version of the software...
if all else fails, google it :rob

what format do you want to change to? Mpeg --> mp3 ?

It worked!

Hi Again,

Downloaded and installed dbpoweramp and it didnt have the option to convert from MP4 to MP3 so I clicked on the "CODEC Central" tab at the top of the page on the website and you can download a variety of codec changers including MP4. So downloaded and installed that and it worked!

A very handy product to use and nice and easy too!

If you still need to do this then try using mp3 bitrate changer. You can download a full 15 day demo from here: http://www.4musics.com/mp3-bitrate-changer.htm
When you load the program all you need to do is add the MP3 file you want to convert, choose the output settings, and then click start :)
