I ended up buying the Archos 10GB as it was £179 and looked fairly robust. I also ordered the Car kit for it which is basically a wired remote control, 12v car lead, Headphones, Line-in audio lead and a tape adapter. The car kit was ordered on sunday night via the net and arrived this morning from France, top service.
The Ipod looks like a great bit of kit but at £325 for the 10GB unit + £80 for the firewire adapter for my PC it was an expensive option and really did not offer anything more other than being a bit smaller, this is not really a problem as it will just be used in the tankbag.
