Well, surely I must be going mad but nowhere can I find how to change the units on the comp display between the two different units...

Has anyone sussed this out? ... Or am I missing something....Surely it must be a simple task.

Any sensible suggestions.

Thanks

I dont think you can, daft as that sounds. Maybe BMW can do it when plugged into the diagnostics.

I thought it was on the display as a scroll option, but then again I've been playing with my Navigator V & it may be on there under settings

Only dealer can change it unfortunately!

Or anyone with the diagnostic equipment a few independent garages have the facility including me! :D

Quite shorted sighted of BMW

I really can't believe that I have to go to a dealer every time I go abroad.....Two excursions to a dealer and pay to get it set and then reset on the return. Surely BMW can do better than this.

They do it for free at cannons and supply coffee and doughnuts.

The Nav V displays current speed by default. From memory, it switches to KPH when abroad, I think. I seem to recall the speed changes colour when you exceed the posted limit.

Anyway, it's no great burden to remember that 80 KPH is 50 MPH, 30 MPH is 50 kph, 100 kph is 60 mph.

Strange of BMW to omit such functionality, I relied on the Nav while abroad, or there's always the inner ring on the analogue display! Noticed some market versions only have their own units displayed

How on earth did you manage in the old days when you were stuck with MPH only? Honestly, how difficult is it to manage with miles in a km country?

Doesn't the speedo show Km in the inner ring and MPH in outer ring?
Is it this obvious or am I missing something

I'm a little confused here (common at my age) I don't own a new GS but, ever hopeful that the day might come, I follow what goes on.

It would appear that it's a good old fashioned speedo with a dial and things. I'm not sure how people think pushing buttons will re arrange the numbers so that KPH is on top! Is there a digital display too? If so then if it can't be changed by the owner then of course the bike is not fit for purpose, unacceptable in a premium product (whatever that means) Blah Blah ...

If you can't see the smaller KPH numbers then just stick a marker of some sort at 50, 80, 130, I used to use Letraset to make a clearly visible line on vehicles with no, or tiny KPH markings. But then I come from the Blue Peter generation, we know how to make things from the toilet rolls and Wheatabix packets

Is the need for advice on simple things a requirement of GS ownership theses days?

In addition to the analogue speedo, the bike has a customisable digital display, so you should be able to change the current MPH to KPH.:rob But you can't.:blast So Letraset could be the best option.:D

Nutty, it's a simple question.

Does the analogue speedo of the 1200 WC feature the usual dual mph and kph numbers painted in? Or have the skilled gnomes of Munich saved yet more grams (and expense) by not painting 50 next to the 30 MPH number?

It's a pressing issue as some of the accolytes ( and yourself, apparently) seem to be struggling that BMW's premier flagship model is failing to cater for continental travel, with all the difficulties that a non-Imperial system of measurement entails.

It's an outrageous oversight, rendering the vehicle unfit for purpose. All that premium priced electronics and no button to push to convert 50 MPH to 30 KPH. You can't have proud owners painting the Tipex onto the dial's glass and as for attaching stickers.... That's something you MUST only do on the panniers.

Yep, the analogue speedo does, in fact, have KPH as well.:beerjug::rolleyes:

If you have the Nav V, you can change the speed to KPH, so the problem isn't a problem. It's not an issue for me, as I spend more time looking where I'm going rather than focusing on what speed I'm doing. That's what cruise control is for.:rob:D

Hoorah! The world is saved, without the trouble of pushing a button.

Though it's still worth several moans.
