I have agonised about whether or not to post this at all, but many of you here in the Ireland section know Jim and will want to know so...

My best friend, Jim Carragher passed away suddenly at home late on Sunday night.

Jim was probably best known to many through his beloved Guzzi, a 1973 V7 Sport and to many here through the Riders Rally (he did 35 of them in a row) and from UKGSer weekends here in Ireland.

In the thirty three years that we knew other we never had a cross word. I loved him and will miss him dreadfully.

My God.
I only met him recently at leoparstown . Shocked .
Saddened . We had a lot more to talk about .

Condolences to his loved ones.

So sorry for your loss Aidan No words can console but the memories of the Mad and the Good times make me smile when I remember my good friends who have passed

Good friends are hard to find and True friends even harder!

Rest in Peace Jim, another who was taken too young!

It hasn't quite sunk in since you told me last night so I can only imagine how hard it is for you.
Jim was one of the good guys.He always had a story and a way of telling it. If there is such a thing as reincarnation I'm sure he'll come back as a Guzzi.
Condolences to his brother Michael & the rest of the family
Ride on Jim :rose

I've known you for 9 years & I've no idea how he managed that level of self control :P

Now that is sad news, sounds like a great guy and gone too soon.

Sorry for your loss Aidan and condolences to his family.

Bin

I am so sorry to hear this.
I've had the privilege of meeting Jim and his V7 - we talked Guzzi stuff as you do.
I simply assumed we'd some day get to sit over a pint or two and talk at length and I'd get the chance to know him better.
He came across as an honourable man.
I feel for you Aidan.
The good always seem to leave us too soon.

Sympathy to his family from myself and Linda.

Sad news

really sorry to hear of the loss of your friend Aidan, heard you talk about him and his guzzi on a few occasions, condolences to his family and yourself. may he rest in peace wherever he is.

Sorry to hear of your loss Aiden; strangely enough I have been to see the grave of one of my bessie mates who died in 2007 of prostate cancer, still shed a few tears even though it is nearly 7 years since he went. The loss of a good mate stays with you for a long long time.:comfort

Sorry to learn of this sad news.

Sorry to hear this news, Aidan.
Close friends are valuable and not easily replaced.

Aidan phoned me with this sad news yesterday - I generally met Jim on the Riders rally; him & his Guzzi appeared well matched - easy going & low key but steadfast & reliable. In Jim's case you could rely on the cheery word & when he asked how you were getting along he'd listen to whatever you had to say & add to it agreeably. When you enquired of his well being he responded affably in his gentle way for he was a gentleman.
It is hard to take in his departure & we are all spiritually impoverished by it - bless you Jim.

i was saddened to hear about Jim's passing, A great man & character who i know will be sadly missed by all who were close to him, to all those he met he left a lasting impression, myself included, & as they say in Ireland 'Had that certain way with him'. My condolances to his family & friends..... Tom.

Only just saw this, so sorry Aidan, I'm sure you're still feeling lost. Even just the few times that I met Jim it was clear what a lovely man he was, warm, friendly and genuine. Very very sad news.

Thanks all for your kind thoughts. That was a bad bad week.

We had Jim's funeral yesterday and he was cremated as per his wishes. Huge crowds attended the wake and funeral which was led by 37 bikes. At the end of the service Jim's nephew Bobby sang this song and there wasn't a dry eye in the place. It will always be Jim's song to me now.
