MS Word causing crash!

On my old work PC, I'm running Win98 and amongst other things Word 2000.

From last week, Word won't run!

Everything else runs perfectly: Excel; Autocad; Outlook; IE6; Firefox.... the lot. But whenever I try to run Word... everthing locks up. (once it gave a message about dangerously low resources) but otherwise it just locks up.

I've removed/reinstalled it.

I've reinstalled Win98

The problem persists.

I can still access my Word docs with Wordpad, so am currently using that.

Any ideas/solutions MUCH appreciated.

The problem is that when you uninstall office (or word for that matter) it doesn't actually uninstall.
Things I would look for are auto open documents (C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP) and autorecover stuff (C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Word).
After that you're down to deleting folders that contain the exes and configurations in and hoping.
Win98 / Office 2000 is going to be painful I'm afraid, so good luck.
