MT-09 Tracer.....

It looks like givi rack will only allow 6kgs load, despite monkey boxes being advertised as 10kgs.

they always say that to try to mitigate against any claim if the subframe breaks - the Hayabusa aluminium subframe and early versions of the R1150GS had problems.

Personally, I just ignore it and have not had a problem on the VFR750, TDM850, R1150GS and XT1200Z which all had Givi topboxes fitted during the last 2 decades.

Just been up to Bells Yamaha dealers in Bedlington.
They reckon on having about 32 bikes going out the door this weekend for the new 15 plate registration. So much so that they are to open on Sunday for the first time to get all the bikes out. At least 22 of these are the new Tracer and orders are still coming in. Looking like it will be a good seller for Yamaha.

mu dealer doesn't work Sunday, so can't take bike on 15 plate this weekend 😕

anyone got any aftermarket goodies for it? tail tidy, screen or mounting plate for box?

picking up mine on Tuesday

same here - dealer closes Sun/Mon each week and they have modest sales in comparison - just popped in to check mine out, and they will have 3 red ones going out next week. Dunlop tyres fitted, which is what the demo bike had and they seemed okay. It's been 20 years since I had Dunlop tyres and they haven't had the best reputation in recent years

I don't think I have ever had bike on Dunlops before, but my bike history is short...

found Akrapovic exhaust from Italy for 750£.I've used them before when I bought can for my GS. That was 200 save... will try them again as soon as GS changes ownership.

I'm getting the Yamaha heated grips & panniers. Just spent £30 on an Oxford tank bag - see post here

I thought about getting a Baglux tank cover but they are expensive now and I'd need a matching bag as my black one is splitting and the red one is the wrong shade.

I'll probably get a Givi topbox kit when it is available as I already have the box.

After the test ride I'm hopeful that the OE screen will be adequate and I'm not interested in cosmetic bling like tail tidies. I'm usually happy with the standard performance so I won't be spending money on an exhaust. If the bike is a bit snatchy in A mode as some of the US owners are reporting then maybe an ECU mod from Hilltop or CJS will be on the cards after I've put some miles on it to see how it develops once loosened up a bit.

I hope you all enjoy your new bikes, but my experience of Yams is that the suspension is always 'cheapo'.

Save your bling money for decent dampers, esp if you ' send it on a bit'

A bit like every other bike out there. The rear shock on the MT-09 was a weak point that Yamaha have said they have addressed for the new bike. FWIW I believe Yamaha have part shares in Ohlins. The very same manufacturer that make some very good shocks.

I would have preferred to have one with the Bridgestone T20 tyres that some US bikes have been supplied with. T20 have had good reviews. All my dealer's bikes are on the Dunlops though. Anyway, they will be worn out in 4-5000 miles if the turn out to be rubbish and I'll get some Michelin PR4s fitted and it will be like having a new bike again!

I've gone off them: The screen looks about a third the width of me, the fairing too...

:(

It's only 210kg in weight so may not suit a typical tosser sized individual. I'm about 10% lighter than when I bought the Super Tenere.

My dealer said they don't do Sunday hand overs because there is no technicians in just in case you need anything adjusting etc..they said could i collect Monday so i said i was working during the week and the next 2 Saturdays.. So Sunday the 1st it is :green gri

My mate had a call from his dealer today to say they can't fit the heated grips to his new bike until July, as they reckon Yamaha didn't think people would pay £140 for them.:blast

Anyone else been told this?

I got mine without problems. Ask your mate to give a call to Moores Motorcycles in Hemel Hempstead.

Looks like Yamaha website finally got updated with list of available ( 6 !) accessories for Tracer...£145 grips are on it, along with comfy seat, low seat and custom brake leavers. Shame they don't mention "Yamaha LED indicators"....they look very nice, especially front ones with DRL function.
