MT-09 Tracer.....

My mate picked his up today, and loves it. The only things he doesn't like is the mirrors, and the side stand. Its quite tall, so he's on tip toes at most junctions, but we can get around that.:thumb

I like the look of it. It looks modern, and purposeful. I followed him for a few miles on it, and it's a good looking bike. The guys at the garage this morning were saying that sales of the MT-09 have slowed right down, and that they are selling Tracers like they're going out of fashion. I wonder if Yamaha will put the price up?:augie

The biggest issue, which has annoyed a few new owners, is availability of accessories, as Yamaha have completely screwed up (sound familiar, anyone?:D).

Looking forward to some great trips away this year with my mate, and also looking forward to not spending so long waiting for him to catch up!:P

Nutty, point your mate to this thread on the FJ09 forum - I have posted some links to some mirror extenders available on Ebay. I found the OE mirrors a bit short on my test ride, having a good view of my elbows. I'm picking my Tracer up on Tuesday so will see if I can adjust them to suit. If not, I will order the extenders from Taiwan. I think the 10mm ones are the right part and note, the right hand side needs a reverse thread.

I can't view that thread, as I'm not registered, but I've forwarded it to him, so he'll probably subscribe :thumb

Pick it up Monday

Had another look in the dealers today. I think it is growing on me, bar the drab colours. They have one cancelled order (in red) and two sitting on the floor (silver). Then that's it until later in the year.

Have you ridden one ?

I picked up my Tracer couple of hours ago....what a joy! it was good fun until busy mum on school run pulled out in front of me on roundabout, while I was about to leave it. Hard braking...hit the car...but luckily I lost enough speed to touch only the car and still keeping it from dropping! It wouldn't be the case with GS...I would definately had to drop it.

I have it recorded on my gopro( handy!), fault is definately on car driver, although she didn't want to comment when I asked her what happened!

Damage to my new 15 plate Tracer is cosmetical: scuffed front headlight ( £714 + labour) and indicator. Damage to car - only mark on doors from my headlamp.

After dealing with the accident, I pulled away on same roundabout to leave same exit on it...guess what....another woman driver didn't fecking see me! This time I was in good distance to stop it and use my horn! What a day!!

oops - my first ride was a much more leisurely affair as I'm surrounded by the Cotswolds, Severn Valley & Malvern Hills.
