mate has an MT350 which he bought as a pile of shite. It won't start, no spark.

he has a wiring diagram, totally confused.

Diagram shows that bike has magneto & a coil!

One or the other, but both??????????????:confused::confused::confused:

I had an MT. It's the only bike I've regretted selling. Can't shed much light on the electrics though. Could it be something to do with it having both a starter motor and a kick start, or have I just made a tit of myself ?

mt

Yer mate needs to check 12 volts at coil (under tank) and a switching signal also. IF present coil at fault if not keep going... Silly question check the kill switch also? I have workshop manual could maybe copy relevant pages if u r still stuck?

I had a TA fortnight in Ripon many years ago.

As specialist mechanics we used to go to Army workshops around the world and help them 'catch' up with repairs.

Two of us were given 40 350s and some boxes of spares and told to get as many road worthy as possible.

I think we ended up with 2 frames and a small pile of spares.

Really enjoyed that - I thought they seemed quite well put together:thumb

you've got low speed and high speed charging coils in the magneto, Also an ignition coil

There should also be a ignition pulse trigger that fires the coil via the ignition amplifier.

If not then its has to be triggered as the ignition coil builds up voltage somehow

if you flash the orange wire from the coil to an earthed 3V~ battery the coil should spark.

if it doesn't - its the coil
if it does - its the pickup.
