Muc Off and Warranty

Used Muc Off since SPC used to sell them ,never had problem with corrosion ,dulling (always finish off with the M.O oil or silicon based spray) . On Yer Bike is selling it and they used it on the much inferior build quality Japanese and Italian bikes

+1. I find MucOff is such a good degreaser/cleaner that any exposed steel will start corroding unless it's coated with WD40/ACF50 etc.

Have you tried Sdoc100?
Really is loads better esp on grease, chainlube, brake dust etc.

That'll be the same SPC that jetwashed my bike after using a cleaning agent during servicing that left marks on the lid of my vario topbox.

The old formula of Muc Off was known to cause damage to certain painted and alloy surfaces if it was left on too long, allowed to dry, or used in direct sunlight.

However, I believe some time last year they changed the formula and this new stuff is supposedly OK.

You are supposed to wash it off, not torch it off.

Don't forget Sdoc100 comes in 2 varieties.
The expensive deep wash that everyone seems to stock and the regular wash that is a lot cheaper but tends to be hidden out of sight in it's blue bottles.

So which one is the better product Gel or LIQUID (cheaper)? The obvious 'the more expensive - must do the job better' statement is not always true. Has anyone tried both Gel and Liquid versions of SDOC100?

Yes.
Seems one is just a watered down version of the other to me. There may be some other differences tho.

The gel is deffo better for proper grime (chain fling, front of engine etc). but as a general cleaner the liquid is great.
You wouldn't believe it considering one is billed as a deep cleaner and one is a general cleaner would you?

If my bike hasn't been cleaned for ages or has got particularly mucky I use gel and if it's just a quick rinse off I use the cheaper liquid.

Muc Off makes a great kitchen cleaner - wouldn't let it near my bike tho'....

Just to add I think the secret is making sure it does'nt dry on the bike. I always hose down the bike first, then put it on, use a brush to clean and do it fairly quickly, then hosing down again and avoid the midday sun, leaving it till later in the day.

lol... well at least they asked you. I had a similar conversation about the front screen cracking and cracks in the deflectors all around the mount points... the response I was that it was the stuff I'd been using to clean them without anyone ever asking me what it might be :O

It seems that if you dont clean you bike with the BMW specific approved cleaning agents (you know, the ones your BMW showroom have on display and they are keen to sell you???) you might be invalidating all the warranty claims
