Mudguards

I was just wondering?
How come the HP2 gets away without having that silly extra bit of mudguard that BMW attaches to the swingarms of ALL the other models?
 
Errr, that "silly" bit wasn't fitted to my GS Adventure which had the complete Overland Package. So not ALL other models had it.

It's all to do with the certain bikes having to meet German compliance regulation: DRK345-643-771X and others having to meet compliance reulation DRE344-645-882R.

The former covers vehicles designed fprimarily for offroad use.
