Mudsling from Nippy Norman

£100 is taking the piss for a piece of black plastic
...

Fixed ;)

There's no way my pride and joy would have a 'chopped up old car mudflap' installed no matter how cheap...

neither would mine - thats why I used a NEW car mat (costing 99p) and the end result is little different from the 'mudbling' :augie

The really important bit is it works superbly, keeping crud from shock/battery/left leg....

so does mine :thumb2

Looked at the NN web site last night and nearly bought one but decided to sleep on it. Checked the web site this morning and price dropped from £99 to £89 plus P&P so now ordered one :thumb2

Going to replace the carbon fibre Wunderlich hugger with it to see if it protects my Wilbers shock a bit better so hugger could be up for grabs shortly ;)

Any feedback yet..I'm in the market NOW, new Wilbers coming next week and dont want to getem too dirty!!

Not sure better comes into it

Do you imagine that somebody has actually tried both at £100 a pop

They are both pretty much the same thing and will do the same job - I'd go for the one that's cheaper/you think looks better.

From the few images Ive seen of the two, the Wunderlich version drops a bit lower past the bottom of the shock possibly offering more protection for the shock linkage, but for availability and price, for me the Mudslings looking better.
Anyone thats got the Mudsling, does it look like its up to the challange, and is it protecting the bottom of the shock from roost ?

Competition is good - maybe the price of both will come down in time.

Plus the weather (here in Blighty) is good - no more mud for a few months, possibly. Unless you live near Tewksbury, or Gloucester, or anywere else on a flood plain. In which case you need a boat. But otherwise, no need to go buying mud-guards for a while :D

NN Mudsling arrived in todays post (£95.50 delivered) - will get round to fitting it tonight and let you know what I think!!

i have had the Wunderlich version fitted for about 14,000 miles along with touratech side panels.

the combination works very well, I do not get covered in crap the only dirt I get is just around the heel of my boots, but not up my legs.

I have not had any issues with the cable ties and you can hardly see them with the side panels on.

The only problem with the panels is that you have to remove the suspension ajuster knob. I carry a small socket and wrench to ajust if required.

Fitted the NN Mudsling last night and tested it over the local speed bumps :D and it is a good bit of kit.
Fits realy well and looks like it will provide good protection for my Wilbers rear shock. Just need some rain now to check out the weather protection - bank holiday weekend coming up so should start raining any minute now :augie

Just fitted the NN Mudsling. Looks great and by that I mean you hardly notice it. Easy fit (5 mins). Looks like it will do a good job but only thing on the down side is that it just falls short of covering the bottom on the rear suspension

Thats how they appear to me in the photos, a little to short for full protection of the shock. I need to source some sort of gard (not a hugger) before the Wilbers go on. Anyone using Mudsling in the mud got any comment on lower shock protection. Thanks

Rubber Fetish

I've got spare rubber if anyone local wants to give it a go! If you're looking for it from a supplier the sheet is called Commercial Insert. I'm sure I posted some pics somewhere of my handy work.

Oh and it doesn't really work by the way!

Hi,

I made one a couple of weeks ago. I went to a builders merchants and bought one of those flexible buckets (large).

Me, bucket, stanley knife, cable ties and some patience.

Job done. Works a treat.....really! £7.99

Check out the BestRest Products Spraystopper. It's a neoprene shroud that catches all the crap from the back wheel. Reasonably priced, 5 minutes to fit, lightweight, unobstrusive, can't damage tyres if it should ever rub and no risk of annoying noise resonation like some of those tatty-looking plastic jobs!:bounce1
