Hi I was speaking to my supplier the other day about the Tucano Urbano range for this year.

It was mentioned that the Muffs and Gauchos are available all year round, so if your thinking of getting some you won't need to wait till September.

More importantly:

The 08 1200 GS has different handguards fitted. These have two different size upper covers available.
After looking at photographs and talking to a dealer, it appears these upper covers can easily be removed allowing fitment of the Muffs with the main handguard still in place.

I think I'm right in saying, that the ADV still has the old 1200 style handguards so there's no problem there.
Gauchos will also fit the newer 08 1200 models.

Having looked at the pictures of the 800 and 658 GSs, the muffs should also fit these too. I'm sure we can supply a Gaucho for the 800/658s too.

Muffs and Gauchos are also available to fit the old 650gs and Dakars with the handguards fitted.

Prices for all models:

Muffs: £36.00 including postage.

Gauchos: £95.00 including postage.

Val,

any news on fitting around the Aux light sswitches on the '08 Adventure? I beleive I read theat there maybe a problme getting the muffs to close up around teh switch because of where it isplaced on the new models. Was that right, or am I just remembering an alternative universe ?

ARR! :rob I'd forgotten that one. Thanks for bringing it up.

If someone can get an 08 ADV with the aux light switch, over to me here in Calne Wiltshire. I can take some measurements and may-be persuade the other half to get the sewing machine out :augie to knock up some inserts.

Might even make you a coffee too ;)

Any idea whether the existing Boxer 1150 gaucho from Tucano should also fit the GS800?

regards

Simon

319's will fit the 800 with high BMW handguards, but there is no leaway whatsoever. Anyone planning (as I am) of fitting the wind deflectors would be best to hold off for a while :thumb

Val, can you check any larger sizes available and I'll test fit if necessary....... I need me muffs :o

Just to be clear, I was enquiring about the gauchos (colloquially known in this parish as 'shitbags' http://www.ukgser.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
:D) rather than the muffs.

Which were you referring to?

I was looking for this thread to post about the muffs anyway..... :o

The 319s are Muffs as Wizard already knows. The 319s are the largest of them though. Will it be possible to remove the top part of the handguard as can be done on the new 1200? One screw and the top part comes off, leaving the main guard still in place. The 319 can then be slipped neatly over for the warm hand treatment.

As for the Gaucho; It's likely that the 117 (1100-1200) will fit the 800. However it might be a bit baggy or loose. in which case either the 118 or 119 gaucho will fit nicely.
Simon, If you have both of the above (117 Gaucho and F800gs) maybe you'd give it a go and post your findings.

The best solution for the 800 would likely be to have the bars only for muffs, and stick the deflectors onto the bars for non-muff riding. Not a huge issue, as it'd probably only need to be done twice a year.........

I'll have a play tomorrow. And then I'll look at the bars :o

I have the gaucho but the 800 is only a twinkle in the eye at present....hard to say farewell to my trusty 1150!

The best I can say is to have a look at the 1200gs if you guards are similar in size to either the 04-07 guards or the 08 guards with the short extension, then the 319's should fit.

However If you have the OE front brake fluid res, then they might not :nenau If you have modded this to the 1200 setup you'll be fine :thumb

Just take the car :aidan

Err! I haven't got one :o

;)

Anyone know the best fitting muffs for an R80GS
Cheers:beerjug:
It comes down to hand guards again I'm afraid. The old type of GS handguards are too big to fit under the muffs. This also applies to the 1100gs.

Removing the guards will solve the problem but the muffs will be a bit floppy on the bars, but because they are reinforced they won't press on the leavers.

Hope this helps.

I was going to wait till we returned from our hols, but with the current interest I thought I should post now.

Muffs and Gauchos are still available but the Importer has been forced to put up their prices. This means I too will have to up mine.

As yet I haven't priced up the Gauchos but the 319 Muffs will now be £40.00 including postage to the UK.

I'll update this towards the middle of September when we are back from our Hols.

FYI we will be away from the end of August till the middle of September, so if I don't answer you PMs during this time it'll be because I'm not here ;)
