Muffs and Gauchos 09/10

OK, I'm sure its a stupid question but how do you position the muffs? I got the 319 muffs from Val and attempted to fit them to my 2008 GSA with standard hand guards. I got the muffs on but they didn't seem to be in the right position. The thin material which velcros around the mirror stem was really tight and I thought the stitching might burst eventually. Is it suppoed to be like that? I expected the front edge of the muff to be more or less parallel with the bar but it was on a funny angle, the outer corner much further forward than the inner one.

Is there a trick to it? Are they normally so tight across the mirror stem?

The muffs are quite stiff when new, and can look a little odd when fitted over the handguards. In use however you'll find they work very well.

I would advise not to pull the Velcro too much, just enough to get it to overlap a little at first. Some times you will need to angle the muffs up or down a bit till you find the optimum place for the Velcro to fasten.

They may feel a bit odd at first, but after a week or so of riding with them, you'll find they get easier to use. It's also worth removing and refitting them a few times too, if only to get used to doing it. It'll also make them more flexible and easier to use.

HTH Val.

Takeaways-

I have had these from ValH for a couple of years now, and can't rate they highly enough :thumb I use them daily in the winter and for light rain (bum gets wet after a while, but my commute is only 10 miles :D)
I even rode in the depth of dry frozen Wales, (-5 on the thermometer  in Abergavenny last Feb) in my summer airtex trousers and was toasty warm.
Once you get the hang of putting them on, so there are no gaps or flaps, there GGRRREAT.
HTH's :thumb2

Hope your both well Val and the bike training is going okay!

Got mine through today. All fitted and taken for a test run in the rain and cold. It's a strange experience being warm and dry while riding in the rain wearing jeans. As for heated grips and muffs..luxury!

Very pleased :)

Christmas

Well it's that time of year again.

Just so you don't start to wonder. We're heading off to warmer climbs for Christmas, err Dorset.

Probably won't be back till New Year. There's no wifi down there so it's unlikely I'll be able to reply to any messages.

Enjoy the festivities everyone :beer::beerjug::jeiger:Motomartin:hogroast:natter:pissl:steptoe:bash:101:pirate:camping:fnikefork:handbag:wave:ymca2:hogroast:Duchess

A very big thank you....

to Val :beerjug:

I'm riding down through France next week and the weather is looking total shite, much the same as we are having now :(

So, a last minute PM was sent to Val on Monday, for a Guacho to keep me bits toasty - today the courier delivered it safe and sound :)

Further to the excellent service from Val he has been donating 10% of every sale to the Callum's Road crew to the Callum's Road fund :clap :clap :clap

So, once again, thanks Val :)

My muffs were fantastic on the GS1100 but cannot get on with them on the scoot, tried a couple of times but they don't seem to sit right. Maybe i need another version ?

Do the Tocano 319s fit a 1100GS?

I've got an old 1100GS and looking for a set of muffs. The weather has beaten me. Does anyone know if you can fit the 319 muffs without removing the standard hand guards?

Hi Val.
Have emailed you request for muffs:thumb2
Haven;t sussed the PM on this site yet.:blast

I got a pair of muffs from Val a few weeks ago, and they're absolutely brilliant apart from making it difficult to go to full lock with my TT tankbag fitted. When I put my hands into the muffs, the friction between my gloves and the lining pushes the muffs well forwards, meaning my wrists are only barely covered by the muffs. I've done everything I can to secure the muffs firmly to the bars, but is there a solution?
