I am running XP and have 2 PCI video cards tunning 2 monitors, both Nvidia GE Force 4 MX4000 cards. I thought it was time to upgrade and bought an Nvidia GE Force GTS450, which is a PCIE 2 card.

I installed it into the PC and then the problems started. It was impossible to load the drivers for the new card, it failed several times and it was showing as unknown device in the hardware list.

I then uninstalled the 2 PCI cards and then the drivers for the new card installed without a problem.

I then installed 1 of the PCI cards back in the machine and loaded the correct driver for that card.

When I restarted the machine it wouldnt boot up - it just showed the Windows logo and rebooted.

I suspect the 2 PCI cards are so old that they just wont run with the new one, but before I take the new one back tomorrow does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any input,
Lloyd.

The GTS450 has two outputs.......get a VGS to HDMI adaptor and run both screens from the same card (about a tenner online)

Thanks for the reply. I need extra graphics power for running flight simulator, and 2 displays off one card reallly hits the frame rate. But if thats my only option then I will take the GTS450 back and get the best one they have.
Thanks anyway,
Lloyd
