Multistrada 2013

The engine mapping is so poor on the KTM, I never got a chance to figure out whether the suspension was any good or not. I thought the SMT was a hooligan of a bike (in a Hypermotard kind of way) but the 1190 is an SMT on steroids.

Not my experience at all. I jumped on the 1190 and found it docile in slow traffic and a bundle of fun on the open road. Faster than an SMT and much smoother. Admittedly the SMT wins in the agility stakes.

Well this my new bike, traded the GSA in for it, and have just had the 600 mile running in service completed.
Impressions so far are I LIKE IT :D , very fast and awesome to look at, not as nice to drive slow as the Bimmer , but otherwise suits me a lot more. Definitely wouldn't be as good as a tourer.

That is stunning:rob:cool::drool

Thanks :thumb2 have done 700 miles now, and have been able to give it the beans
Totally different bike to the GSA, it is like a full on sports bike with an upright riding position, feels at least twice as fast as the Bimmer, the thing just wants to lift the front wheel even at 80 to 100 mph.
Can't see it being as comfy or competent as a GS , but I havnt ridden the water cooled one.
I don't regret the change one bit, you just wanna ride the M/S for fun.

Just got back from 3,800 miles in Spain and Portugal on my MTS1200S Touring.

Never missed a beat.

Time to admit that the bias against Ducs reliability is all in the past?

Spain and portugal on holiday for a few weeks, it would have been piss poor if it had 'missed a beat' hardly the same as riding it through a salt ridden british winter. Do that then report back.

My 1200S never missed a beat, but it did have a slightly ropey gear change into 5th gear , false neutrals, no back brake, and naff luggage that needed extra buckles to keep the rain out. Oh and the user manual out just to change the clock.

Happy to be back with bmw.

Nope, can't do it. Sorry Ducati. Today was an interesting day.:rob

Why, can you elaborate? Yours is the farkoff PP version I'd like to point out. There are also huge variation of ride settings available.
I wouldn't take a £19K bike offroad though.

That's my raison d'être for any bike :thumb2

I ended up buying an 1190
would i have bought a MTS? YEs....absolutely nearest thing to a sit up sportsbike....
biggest difference between the 2 is probably the 17" front wheel , otherwise they are very similar....the MTS is definately quicker in the twisties , but i wouldnt take it in a gravel car park , never mind offroad........
Pal of mine has done 18k in 2 years on his with just a few bits and bobs issues.....:beerjug:
Still prefer the KTM though.
And it is way faster than the SMT....that is total horseshit IMHO

The LED lights are very good:

The vid above is impressive quality from the GoPro
FWIW my dealer has told me that the 2014GT will be red

Please don't post any more videos on here.:rob:comfort Just when I'd ruled out the MS, you go and do this.:blast I'm buying a BMW from a Ducati dealer tomorrow, so must show great restraint (unless my wife insists I get one:P:D).:beerjug:

here is a guy who is NOT on a 2013 and having electronic troubles after fitting TKC80's herel

Anyhow I MUST publish this picture, because I challenge anybody to say that this does not look drop dead gorgeous:

(I still couldn't justify green lanning such a beautiful bike )

The MTS GT, now in red for 2014, (yes they call it a tourer) is clearly a smaller bike and at the NEC, its obvious that it's not up to the touring capability size of a GSA: Imagine these riders, with gear on!

The cuddly lady said that she felt very upright
So a great bike for solo, but not so good for touring two up. FWIW, the KTM1190 also has touring issues and my wife found the high rear foot peg positions intolerable on the KTM1190
I still like the MTS though !

note also horrid crashbars.

far worse looking IMO than the much maligned LC GSA items.

Sorry for bumping an old thread.

Can anyone share ownership (or test riding) experience on the Multistrada GT?

Looked at one on display at Metropolis over the weekend and considering it as a replacement for my GSA.

Just seen this thread, I haven't got a gt, but I am on my second Pikes Peake. I did over 12k on the first, with a couple of european tours, with i think,Trax boxes on.
I honestly find them more comfortable on long or short distances. I am about 5'11. I've had 3 gs's, and of course they are great bikes, though I wouldn't say they were better tourers, just different. The multis have got a huge grin factor built in, which seems to suit me better. I have tried the new gs, but it didn't have the same snap crackle and pop, for me,so I bought another multi. I think we all know its horses for courses, and whatever floats your boat!
Incidentally, I never had any probs with my first multi, apart from the rear brake issue.Nothing to report on the 2nd,either. Similarly I had no issues, that I can now recall,on any of the g's's. Maybe i'm just lucky?!:beerjug:

We test rode the Multi GT this week from WM Snells, fantastic bike. My wife said its more comfortable than the RT. It has only one flaw that I can find and that is it still has a chain drive. If it was shaft drive I think it would outsell the GS as the Ducati would be the best option for anyone who doesn't ride off road. However for RTW peeps and p/t off roaders a GSA is clearly the right bike.

Its horses for courses, in 13,000 miles my F800GS has never been off road and its not likely to. I am thinking of replacing my R1200RT with a Multistrada GT as the RT is just too lumpy and boring.

A friend has today part exchanged his Triumph 800XC for a Pikes Peak, maybe theres revolution going on and its from Europe not Japan this time.

The airbag jacket has to be a good option, i think its will be available with the MS next year
