In pursuit of the elusive oomph, I am toying with the idea of fitting RS cams into my GS1150. Does anyone out there know if the cams from the 1100 engine will fit into the 1150? I am sure one of you technocrats, mechanical genius, superb spannerman, has the answer.

Or, does anyone know of a web site that has detailed engine specs for the various models I can peruse.

Cheers :beerjug:

Why not just put in the 's' or 'rs' motor if the speeds your thing.(gearbox ratios may need looked at aswell)

Would you not be better off reading Motorcycle News.............

They do all those plastic rocket ships !................

(and this from an ex VFR rider !)

Guys, steady now... plastic rocket ships? Had all that sort a stuff, most happy with the GS... 33K miles in 2 an a bit years, love the little darlin. What I am after is a bit more oomph, an a bit is probably all the cams will give. Race cams are available in the USA and a guy in Australia is experimenting with hot cams for Boxer engines, but they will probably be too much for the road (see, see, I am sensible...ish).

Just wanted to know if 1100 cams fit 1150's. (Cheaper than buying an engine) (Hard up Geordie) Anyway thanks for the replies. Byee

Had a very informative chat with a guy at Motorworks who consulted his oracle and it seems that RS cams will go into the GS. I will keep you guys posted as to what happens when I stick em in.

Hey Panzer dude,Just remember that you will lose a bit of low and midrange power when you stick the RS cams in.You might want to try the BB chip or the techlusion box. Check this first.

more cam please nurse

let me know how you get on with the cams.

Do you have any technical info on the prfile and lift of the cams.

Swapping the cams on my Bandit for GSXR cams made a huge difference.

Hey Pict, thanks for the link to Techlusion....very interesting. Putting that on my list as well. You are right about loosing bottom end, which is one of the best features of the GS and I am expecting that. What I really want to find out is, will it detract from the whole GS experience or not. Must find out.

No doubt that the GS is amazing the way you can pull out of a corner doing about 30mph in 5th and just nail it and off she goes. But on the other hand it seems a waste of a six speed box, cos really it should only have two, one to pull away with an another one.

I will keep you all posted as to how it goes.

Any more ideas more than welcome....Cheers all
