Mustangs to Monza 2

I really enjoyed reading that. Very interesting! Thanks for writing it all up and sharing it👍👍👍

Thank you, Chris.

Other than driving assorted Volvo HGV’s on their Swedish test track and a Scania fuel truck on their (very realistic) simulator, I have never been in a large HGV. If Jimmy Savile were still alive, I’d even consider a call to get him to fix it….. and bugger the consequences…. Though I’m sure he’d have much preferred much younger meat, so I should have been safe.

My brother ended up learning to be a truck driver when he became unemployed for a while. He got his HIAB and an ADR rating and worked for an agency, some jobs he liked and some he really didn't but, a job was a job, anyway, one day he came to my works in his truck and let me sit in the drivers seat. It was they type where the cab appeared to be floating above the rest of the chassis, and I said it was like driving a double decker from the top deck... it might've been a Renault Magnum?

Fecking horrible things to drive they were!
You go round a left hand corner and the cab tips alarmingly to the right! :barf
They constantly felt like they were about to tip over. Seasick city.

As @Sgt Bilco says they are limited to 56mph but I have driven at well over 80mph many times and Chris will know that I'm telling the truth.
I got pulled over after blasting past a police car on the A47 Dereham straight early one morning heading towards Norwich in my left hand drive Dutch plated wagon and drag. He said he clocked me at 72mph! :D Those were the days of pulling the tacho fuse. It had also been derestricted by a Daf mechanic down Ipswich way who plugged his computer in one evening on the way to catch the Harwich ferry. Best £30 I ever spent! :green gri
I fortunately got away with an almighty bollocking from the plod because I told him I had a Dutch licence. :D Those were the days. Must be well over 30 years ago now.
