Mmmmm, been a member of this site long enough now to really speak my mind....and I think that this is the right section to do it in. Im 43 years old, a professionally trained rider - to advanced / police standards (both 'on' and 'off ' road) and, you know, Im a safe rider. Thinking of going overseas again on the old GS next year with a buddy who is travelling over to Bosnia. Im gonna meet him on the way back. Just gotta say that in all my time riding, Ive had oooohh 25, 30 bikes perhaps (at a conservative estimate just in case the wife reads this) and Ive got to say that my 52 plate 1150 GS is THE greatest bike Ive ever had. Ive never wanted to KEEP a bike for so long. I love everything about it and the fact that it simply wants to purr along all day at 85 / 90 suits me JUST FINE. Hey , if I want half an hour of madness at breakneck speeds then I can do it AND get paid for it on somebody elses bike. For sheer motorcycling pleasure, single or pillion, my GS IS THE DOGS NAJAS. If you are thinking about getting one, then DO IT .....have a nice day :beerjug:

No where near as experienced as GSdude and only on my second road bike, although I have had numerous off road bikes and been on bikes since I was 10. Now 41 and I :thumb can say I absolutely agree. Some poeple would say I am not qualified enough to make statements of that magnitude, due to my inexperience with road bikes. The GS12 is a pleasure to ride and I just can't wait for my next trip.

GSdude - couldn't agree with you more. I'm the same age as you and also have had "numerous" bikes in similar numbers to yourself. I rode my 1150GS through Bosnia last year and my new 1200GS right through Bosnia to Serbia and Montenegro this year. Go there - you'll have a whale of a time (Just watch out for the Police collecting "speeding fines")

Youre not wrong. :bounce1
Not had as many steeds as you have though.......Yet :thumb
(So many routes, so little time)

Go on, lets make the 1150's feel loved up!

Cue AA meeting atmosphere....
Hello, my name is Simon and I am 49. I have had 5 bikes over a 26 year on and off biking career. Had a lovely r1100rt for 8 years and 50,000 miles and a 1200GS (2nd into Wales) for one year and 6000 miles. Couldn't get on with latter - somehow too flighty and lighty and I wasn't convinced the panniers would stay in one piece.

But the 1150 GSA - oooh you lovely thang you. Nearly one year and 12000 miles and I still think she is the best all rounder. Fabulous tourer, effortess and with that commanding don't f*ck with me presence. Good solid stock which takes a drop or two, big panniers, cumfy seat (Corbin), 300 miles range.

I agree, A roads at 80-90 mph one can enter a zen like state of bliss.

My horizons are widening beyond europe (did Canada also) - bring it on!
