My 1200GS Order

Not exactly its the Adventurer - like this one

Got it got it. :D

Two weeks from odering to delivery. Apparently it was in the "system" waiting for a buyer and I struck lucky

Thanks to Matthew from Wollaston's.

No pictures yet, too busy stroking it, and reading instruction for bolting extras on, just nipped in from the garage to post.

Congrats, Uncle T :thumb2
I rode one in exactly the same colours on my test ride, last weekend! Loved the bike, although I would have gone with the white/black one if I was going for a GSA. A lovely bike, I hope you have very many happy rides on it! :D

Nice bike, Foto John, enjoy!

Just as an aside, I thought that the hand protectors were standard equipment (on UK bikes). Is this no longer the case?

Thanks, Jonathon, it's being built in week 20, so it's a bit of a waiting game for now! I should have ordered it in the winter, but I wasn't really expecting to buy a new bike until my partner, Inge, sort of suggested it would be a good idea! :D

I don't know whether the hand protectors are standard equipment in the UK, but in Belgium, they're an optional extra €56 ! :spitfire (How can you have a GS without hand protectors, it just looks silly!)
On the UK BMW website they don't list them as an optional extra, so I imagine they come as standard!

I picked it up on Thursday.......

I absolutely love it :D and I'm very pleased with my decision to get the standard 1200:GS, in place of the Adventure. However, I'm going to look at getting a different screen :augie and possibly a different saddle (Wunderlich low) when funds allow.

In the dealer's showroom, my brand new stead, awaiting it's rider! :D

The clocks showing 2 km, before I'd ridden it out of the dealers of BM Center in Ruddervorde.

Outside in the parking area, me with my new Wunderlich tank-bag fitted and (almost) ready to go. ;)

Yesterday I went out on a beautiful ride on perfect "running in" roads in the region of Brugge, in fact it was a big loop around the city, 100km in total.

At a refreshment stop, yesterday, in Donk, not far from beautiful Damme.

I bet your grin can be seen for miles!

Thanks Mike, I think you could be right :D !

ehm I see you ordered spokes too... where are they?

To cut a long story short, when the spokes were no longer available at half price, I decided to go with the less maintenance and strong enough for my type of riding, standard wheels. Yes, they don't look so good on the :GS as a set of spokes, but for the €390 I saved, I bought myself a nice new helmet.

fair enough

I made a different deal... I ordered the spokes but had made sure a month ago (and before the order) for my wife to get me a new helmet as a gift ;)

When I went to pick up my new bike all the staff laughed as I looked through the window into the workshop and started hooping with joy and doing a wee dance when I spotted my new bike. :D :D :D :D

Quite right too as there is something magical about picking up a new bike. Last time was when I bought a R100GS back in the early 90's.
