Let us (me) know how the strip down goes - splitting the calipers scares the crap out of me...
You don't have to split the calipers to clean everything up.
Just remove the r clip, then the pad pins (use a punch on the rear pin, and unscrew the front pins) front springs, then just pull the pads out. then unscrew the calipers to get access to the pistons. make sure you clean the pins up to remove all the crud, then grease that too with copper grease.
it's really easy, give it a go, take your time, and be very carefull to keep the red rubber grease and copper grease clear of the disc and friction material on the pads. Make sure you have plenty of clean cloths to hand to keep everything nice and clean ang grease free, including your hands.
