If you do mostly proper off road then the R is the best choice. It's the best big engined off road bike you can buy but the 21" front wheel isn't so good on the road. If your mostly road or unfinished roads then the 1190 adv or 1290 SA is probably a better choice. The 1290 is the most sorted and has all the toys but you pay a premium for that. It's also a bit heavier but for long distance riding it's spot on.

Led lights yes if you fit them.
Keyless no thank god, makes it harder to steel.
Integrated sat nav, no but then the dash that you can actually read tells you everything.
Quickshifter, no, big deal, I have a left hand and clutch leaver that I only need for downshifts.
Does the gs have 160 HP, a gearbox that is so good you can barely feel it?
And while we are at it the current year gs doesn't have active suspension or corner stability control, never mind hill hold start or MSR.
Given his recent acquisition, is the comparison being attempted with the XR, not the GS?
Regardless, my new toy should be ready today...
Apart from the suspension and all the other electronics stuff I mentioned that the 2015 GSA doesn't have. No it doesn't have any toys.
Feeling a bit defensive Nutty are we?

) and I didn't find the 21" wheel an issue on the road. There is a very slight difference in so much as it needs just a smidgen more input to start it to turn in and that's it. It's no big deal though. You can ride around your underpowered panzer feeling happy.
Underpowered?
All joking aside, the 1290 does have a great engine, and I may consider one, one day. But not until they start to equip it to to same levels as the competition.
So what are the must haves you consider to be missing? Just those points you listed in your first post in this thread?
