2003 Ducati Multistrada 1000DS – £1200 ono

Location: Near Mold

With a heavy heart, I’m selling my much‑loved 2003 Ducati Multistrada 1000DS, affectionately known as Mutley. I’ve owned this bike for 8 years and it’s been utterly dependable, whether touring Europe or rorking round the welsh countryside

It’s taken me from Santander through France, spent two unforgettable weeks in the Picos de Europa, and has been my filming bike for onboard shots on my video channel (LDG).

The 1000DS Desmo Due engine is a superb real‑world powerplant with that classic elastic Ducati torque. It handles brilliantly — genuinely a backroad Ballerina.

Despite its err quirky looks, it has aged well and is now a pretty respectable‑looking machine (ish)

Staintune Exhausts (great quality and nice noise - see video)
Fresh cam belts
Valve check
Front forks stripped and refreshed with new oil
Rear shock professionally rebuilt with a new spring (set for 90kg rider) thanks Denzo
Recent front brake pads
Rear brake is shite — as they all are on these models
Few dodgy pixels on the screen (see the video)

Details:
34,000 miles (these engines regularly go well past 100k)
Comes with cbow luggage
Doesn't come with the Aoocci

Reliable, characterful, and great fun to ride

This is a great opportunity to pick up a sorted 1000DS that’s ready for many more adventures or could make a fantastic project bike, turn it into a street fighter

Fantastic bikes.

I had a silver DS, quirky and brilliant.

That one has the comfy seat too, essential

what a bargain for someone, still a very capable bike, wish i had room

Thanks for all the comments and enquiries - I am going to be out all day so will respond to any further enquires tonight

Loved mine - a lovely flexible torque laden engine that just pulled and pulled! Sounded glorious with a set of Termis. This is an utter bargain for a sorted bike, GLWTS!

Hi all sorry have been out of phone range all day - will answer the DMs as soon as I can

I have had a chat with Dave who did the Desmo service, he didn't do the valve guides so we have contacted the previous owner who owned it from when it was 3 years old he didn't have the valve guides done but all the servicing was done by the Ducati dealership he bought it from and reckons if there was a recall it would have been done
In my time owning it it hasn't used excessive oil and the lads haven't seen smoke on the overrun (when they can keep up that is ....joke ).

It could probably do with a TPS reset and TB balance as it is sometimes a bit grumpy re tick over when starting from cold

When Dave did the valves he had to re shim 3 clearances (2 opening and one closing) I checked them last year and they were all still within tolerance

I also forgot I replaced the gear lever return spring (common on all V Twin Multis) at the same time I checked the sprag clutch as that can also be an issue but it was absolutely fine

"sometimes a bit grumpy re tick over when starting from cold"

Thought you were describing a few of us...😂👍

You have to think what £1200 buys you bike wise these days and the fact that realistically it gives you a fair bit of wriggle room... Good luck with sale and surely someone will go for it soon...👍
