My GSA let me down yesterday.

I thought the throttle felt like it was hanging a bit on weds night riding back from a local bike night.
Friday morning I hit the starter and it was revving it's tits off.
Quickly turned it off and got a TL out Instead for the ride to work.
When I got home I checked it over and there appeared to be more free play in the throttle.
I decided to strip it right down to investigate.
Panels off.
Tank disconnected and removed.
Bugger me there's a lot of dust and dirt under there
I think there could be a pound of Icelandic dust over everything.
Anyway I digress.
After checking the play on all the cables the bottom two seemed ok.
the splitter box was all connected up ok.
I split the throttle grip and there was the culprit. The cable was quite frayed and the sleeve was all hanging out.
New cable ordered. £63.00 just for the top part. So I declined buying the other 2 as well.
I'll be at the dealer by Tuesday apparently.
After almost 20 years and 156.000 miles you wouldn't expect that would you.
They don't make stuff to last anymore.

I’d hang on a bit before doing anything drastic. Wait till that botus clot posts up some free advice, telling you how you’re still a beta tester for BWM or summit ‘humurus’

Picked up the new cable last night (after hunting around for wollastons motorrad, they'd moved the shop off site behind the ford dealer just incase anyone else can't find it like me)and fitted it.
Took about an hour and a half to get it all back together again. I need smaller fingers to fit the cables in the splitter box without detaching the lower cables.
Got there in the end. Fuel tank back on and all good. The throttle feels a lot lighter now. It must have been snagging a little for some time.
I'd did notice a small fuel leak from the fuel pump flange on the left side of the tank. it had the reinforcing ring fitted years ago. I'm hoping this will still be covered by the recall from years ago.
At least I know where the bike shop is now.

It will be your oil level in the rear drive , that causing the fuel leak , i know cos my mate down the pub told me its a common problem

You need a new fuel tank.
