My 18 month old R1200GS broke down due to corroded fuel pump!!!! Its an 18 month old bike for goodness sake, and it ain't made by Skoda.

To cap it all, this is how it was delivered back to me by those muppets at BMW Battersea, in what looks to be a dangerous condition.

See the photo at:

Now whats the number for trading standards and the name of the BMW UK MD ??

MUPPETS!!!

Give us a clue - what's the dangerous condition? All I can see if the breather pipes not tucked away properly, and the swinging arm pivot bolt cover missing. Not desirable, but not dangerous.

PS - your road tax has expired :D

Needs a decent clean too - shocking state :-)

how long ago was this?

Or is your tax out of date.... :D

Call Chris in Battersea. He's new there and has managed to get fully to grips with some of the "questionable" service from Battersea that I experienced.
Pm'd you his email

Havent for a clue what the pipes are....am not a mechanic. But I know they shouldnt be there. Can also smell petrol...

Road tax hasnt expired - I dont have a tool take the holder apart display the new disc. Current disc in wallet !!! I ain't a mechanic, I just ride the bike.

TODAY - AN HOUR AGO !!!

Skoda

:clap :clap :clap
No if it was made by Skoda you wouldn't have had this problem. They have an excellant reputation these days, better than BMW!!!!

I'm not familiar with the swing arm or lower mounting point for the rear suspension but that looks kind of twisted to me. Or is that some sort of optical illusion?

Those pipes are breather pipes - just need to be tucked into the slot at the back of the stater motor cover behind the frame - not dangerous, jut a little oversight on the mechanics part.

Ah.Call Chris Corbett and explain all. Best of luck!

Tried to PM you but it didn't work.

Chris was already the case. Looks like he's got his work cut out for him. There clearly is NO quality control @ BMW Battersea. Anyone working for me that did work of that quality would be fired instantly !

...last time I picked my old bike up from Battersea....

Wing mirror & handguard assembly loose
Gear lever incorrectly fitted
Clock not set
No engine oil

And then broke down again

Yes, Chris et al have their work cut out to establish premium brand service...

New bike seems a belter though so musn't whinge

Trouble is, they appear to have a monopoly in the London area. Its a pain to go elsewhere...and they appear to know this.

Bracken in SE1 do BMW's but not the 1200GS as the tooling and diagnostics costs a fortune, so they tell me

Better not breakdown in the middle of nowhere (such as SE1)

From the PMB Worldwide website said:
We are dedicated to providing clients with a superior level of psychological insight into their customers through primary, custom-designed research and fact-based market analysis
The fact based analysis seems to have overlooked the reality of Skoda build quality in favour of trotting out a hoary old stereotype....

Something of an over-reaction in respect of the breather pipes as well. Perhaps a bit of introspection is required.

Some people are blessed with the time and energy to be bothered with the oily bits. I just check the essentials & ride, leaving the rest to the dealer, like many other riders.

If you dont know anything about bike bits or bike mechanics, how are you to know that they are only breather pipes? Besides, there was a very strong smell of petrol...which is no doubt related.

The main point is this. You expect service and quality, especially from BMW. You don't expect your bike to come back with bits hanging off. Clearly a lack of Quality Control. Anyone working for me doing shoddy work like that would be fired instantly !

Glad we're not working for you then.......... :thumb

What else do you expect fuel tank breather pipes to smell of then ?

What did you think they were???

If they were fuel tank delivery pipes, the petrol would be pissing all over your boots and obviously far more of a safety issue

Get a grip..........but makes a great 1st post :clap
