My New 1250 Triple Black

My new bike got delivered on Monday and I couldn't be happier

I have wanted a 1250 ever since I test rode an Exclusive in 2019. Also test rode a GSA, but wasn't keen on the extra girth.

Haven't ridden for 2 years but took the plunge at the end of January. Tried to order from some dealers in the North West, but they weren't great at getting back to me, and I was impatient. In the end I thought i'd give John Clark in Dundee a go, because I've previously bought a van from one of their VW dealerships (because English dealers weren't great either)

I got the usual 7% ish discount without asking, and subsequently ordered within an hour of first contact. I only ordered a heated seat and auxiliary lights, but they gave me a bike with engine bars, the cylinder head guards and spoked wheels for nothing

Can't wait to get out there and put some miles in

Looks great id be interested to know what you think of the heated seats? Can you isolate the riders seat from the pillion ?

If the heated seats are anything like they are on the K1600 you'll love them. Nice and toasty!!

Pillion works off a switch by the side of the seat, and so is independent of the heating setting in the tft for the rider's seat. Has only 2 settings, compared to 5 for the rider.

I rarely used the heated seat on my K1600, mainly because that was a two-up touring bike and I mainly got used for summer holidays, but when I did I wasn't that impressed. The 1250GS seat is much more effective. I love it.

When you do get out for a ride avoid making my mistake and switching on all the toys and doing a short run as there’s not enough juice in the battery to restart.

Strangely that looks nicer slightly dirty than clean. Which means it's a proper adv bike

Also looks like you git the hp mirrors as well. They do look smart. I'm came from John Clark Aberdeen all the way to Devon as the deal was good.

HP mirrors are standard on the GS triple black.

Haha, great tip. I went on a 15 mile round trip to the shop the day it got delivered, just so I could get used to it. Haven't tried any of the toys yet. I'm working on site a few days next week, so hopefully I can put some miles in

I sold my mirrors in first week. I didn't like them much as I had better aftermarket mirrors from my previous bike and couldn't refuse offer of £250 to sell them. My aftermarket ones have much larger angle of view and look very similar to HP mirrors. I did like the look of HP mirrors but preffer my other ones.

They are a little style over substance - I'd say the originals provide a better view. But I like the looks, as you say, so happy to stick with them.

My local ones were just slow. Took my nearest 6 days to get back to me, and another one didn't contact me when they said they would, as they didn't think it was urgent enough because I said I was looking for April/May delivery initially.

John Clark's dangled a carrot though (and i'm spontaneous), and the rest is history.

My was also from John Clarke and a good price ( comparatively) but if there are any issues you are on your own and need to see local dealer. Sale was good, support is not.

The local dealer may be slightly less inclined to assist if you buy it elsewhere. Ask me how I know !
